CAPLAN, Jack (Jacob)
1931 - 2012
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Caplan. He is survived by his wife Estelle, two sons Mark & Guy and five Grandchildren. Jack was born in Montreal and graduated in Engineering From McGill University. Shortly after marriage Jack and Estelle chose to come to Vancouver where he founded Caplan Builders. In this capacity he proved to be a farsighted visionary, with developments such as the award winning Huntly Wynd which were "firsts" for this market. His family is truly proud of him and all that he accomplished. Jack's magnetic and outgoing personality, exuberance and joie de vivre combined with his loyal and kind nature endeared him to many people of all walks of life. He made lifelong friends and was a devoted husband of 47 years. Together, he and Estelle traveled the World and enjoyed the culinary and foreign cultures. His other passion in life was the stock market. Although he had many successful investments, his real interest was in studying the principles that drive the market. He is often attributed to inspiring and having encouraged many individuals into careers in Finance and related endeavours. Jack will be missed by many friends. The Caplan family would like to thank the West Vancouver Care Center and the Lion's Gate Hospital staff with special mention to Dr. Leon Bard. There will be a 'Celebration of Life' in March. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lion's Gate Hospital Foundation.

Dear Estelle and Family - We wish to extend our sincere sympathies and thoughts to you and your family. I'm afraid we only just found out. We certainly enjoyed meeting you and Jack and will never forget the most enjoyable dinners we had together and Jack's very entertaining stories. We are still in Huntly Wynd and loving it - I expect we will be here for many years to come. It stands as a testament to Jack's many achievements. He will be sorely missed.

Dear Estelle, Mark and Guy, Uncle Jackie's smile and wit will live on in my heart. There is a big hole where he once was. He was very special in mylife when I was a child and brought light to some dark days. I will never forget him.
