Alberta Capps Obituary
Alberta D. Capps, age 97, passed away with her loving family by her side on Wednesday, March 5, 2014.
Alberta was employed by Firestone Tire & Rubber Company (Rosie the Riveter) during World War II, and later at Polsky's Department store before moving to California in 1969. She returned to Akron in 1973 where she later met and married her second husband, Al who was immediately accepted and loved by her entire family. She had a special love for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She loved snuggling up, watching movies or cartoons with the little ones or just sitting and talking with or teasing them during all of their visits with her.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 10-1/2 years, Al Capps; former husband, Frank Elrod, Sr.; son, Frank Elrod, Jr.; stepdaughter, Rebecca Rochon; parents, Howard and Gwennie Thomas; six brothers; and two sisters. Alberta is survived by son, Roger (Ginney) Elrod; daughter, Lynda Rollence; son, Denny (Paula) Elrod; stepdaughter, Patricia (Duane) Angel; sister, Eileen Easter; 19 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312, and one hour prior to the funeral service, which will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., with Pastor Mike Freeman officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Summa, 1077 Gorge Blvd., Akron, OH 44310; or Springfield Baptist Church, 1920 Krumroy Road, Akron, OH 44312.
The family would also like to send a special Thank You to her wonderful Home Health Caregivers who took such great care of her and treated all of us like family. Maggie Mosley, Ruth Carter, and Mary Phillips, we could not have done it without you. Also to Hospice of Summa for all they have done.

Mom, for the past 45 years you were my 2nd mom. I could not have dreamed of ever having a better one.Very few ever get to be blessed with two wonderful mothers. You were never just my mother-in-law.
Denny & I will miss the fun times, talks, laughter and tears.The three of us have
been blessed to be able to shared many things together and always be there for each other. So now you are on a new journey that we cannot share. So until we meet again we will miss you,but you will always remain in our hearts.
