Ruth E. (Tressler) Bonebrake Schildt, 87, of 210 S. Oller Ave., Waynesboro, died at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014, in her home.
Born Dec. 11, 1926, in Rocky Ridge, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Catherine J. (Baird) Tressler. She lived her early life in the Leitersburg, Maryland, area. She and her first husband, the late Theodore P. Bonebrake, were married in January 1945. Mr. Bonebrake died on May 13, 1970. She married her second husband, the late Aaron N. Schildt, on Nov. 6, 1976. Mr. Schildt died on Sept. 17, 1994.
Mrs. Schildt worked at Connie's Sportswear, the Mercersburg Dress Co., the Waynesboro Knitting Mill, and Quincy United Methodist Home. She retired on Jan. 1, 1993. She was a member of Wayne Heights Brethren Church, Waynesboro, and enjoyed gardening, flowers, trips to the beach, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Richard "Dick" Bonebrake and his wife, Donna of Quincy and Terry R. Bonebrake and his wife, Annette of Quincy; four grandchildren, Michelle McFerren, Tracy Bonebrake-Miller, Kelly Smith, and Kristy Bonebrake; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, M. Winifred Miller of Waynesboro; two brothers, Harold Tressler of Chambersburg and Roy Tressler of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald Tressler, Joseph Tressler, and infant Charles Tressler.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 31, 2014, in Wayne Heights Brethren Church, 120 Strickler Ave., Waynesboro, with Rev. Dr. Harold W. Walton officiating. Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning in Grindstone Hill Cemetery, Route 316, Chambersburg, where family and friends are welcome to attend. The family will receive friends following the service Saturday morning in the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Lutheran Home Care and Hospice, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17202, or The Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, is handling the arrangements.
