Barry, so sorry to hear about your loss. We will keep you and your family in our prayers as you make your way through this grieving period. We did not have the honor of knowing your wife, but I'm sure she was as lovely as everything that we have heard. Remember your faith.
You and your family have our sincere sympathy, Barry... Jane and Doug Fernandez
Barry, We are so sorry for the loss of your precious wife, Kathy. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
I met Kathy in high school our freshman year and we became friends and part of a "pack of girls" that had so many good times together throughout the years that it's hard to count them all. I've always been amazed at that somewhat wild Kathy I knew as a teenager, grew into such an amazing woman, mother and wife...she was truly a special light in the world. Although I didn't see her often, just knowing she was there, and I could talk to her anytime, was a joy and privilege for me. Kathy and my sister-in-law Lisa had an incredible bond; I only wish my connection with KT was even half of what they had. We will all miss you deeply my friend and my heart goes out to Barry, their wonderful children, and the rest of Kathy's family and friends. I know Kathy is tending the gardens and pouring the wine in the afterlife...until we meet again, love you KT!
We are so sorry for your loss. The first time we met Barry and Kathy was the day we showed up to look at their house before it was even on the market. Her love of gardening was so evident when we looked into the park like backyard...that is what sold us on the house. We can never hold a candle to her expertise in that area. I hope you all are comforted by many happy memories of her during this most difficult time. With fond thoughts, Gary and Darcy Staring & family.
Kathy Thomas Rico, I will miss you. Another angel left us to soon.RIP KTR.
Kathy was one of my closest friends in High School. Along with Lisa and Collette the 4 of us shared many, many laughs. At any time we could pick up our lives and conversations as if no time had passed. Until we meet up again my friend.... I send my heart felt condolences to the Rico family.
Im so sorry for your loss barry. You were my neighbor and friend on woodside. Rip Katherine.

Cancer has taken another beautiful human being.
I think the gardens in heaven must be a little prettier now with you there.

I think there must be a special room in Heaven for the Features Department of The Reporter. And I can hear the jingle of laughter emitting from within, just as we did in the "good ol' days"... peace is yours, Kathy. Thank you for your example of courage and grace.
It was such an honor to know you and serve with you on the Mary Lou Wilson Writers' Group, as Brian Hamlin called us. You had a lot of class, always true to your ideals and always with that dry wit, love of life and sunny smile. Bless you and your family and all of your many friends.
Flash, I will never forget you! You were a gem of a person and I was honored to be considered your friend. I will think of you every time I am in my garden and use the gardening tips you shared with me.
I met Kathy in the early 80's when we worked together in the men's dept, at Liberty House, Sunrise Mall. I also remember us getting our colors done together; we were both "Spring". We lost touch until we reconnected via Facebook in 2010 where we had fun catching up on life and family. It was fun to learn we both had a passion for gardening and raising chickens. She gave me plant advice and I shared with her my experiences with chickens. Kathy was always was so kind and had such a wonderful and fun personality. I feel so blessed to have known her. She could always put a smile on my face. My thoughts are with Barry and her lovely children.
