Guido Addiego Obituary

Jan. 18, 1944 – Oct. 28, 2013
Guido Addiego passed away suddenly on Monday, Oct. 28 at the age of 69. Guido was born in Verbicaro, Italy and immigrated to the Unites States at age 15. He lived in El Cerrito with his parents, two sisters and three brothers where he met his bride, Yolanda and married her in 1967. He was proud to become an American citizen in 1965. He began working for a lumber company in Richmond and had three children. In 1973, he along with his friend, Ennio DePianto and their families bought a ranch in rural Vacaville.  Years later, they both built homes on the ranch. Along with friend, Charles Brusco they opened All Bay Mill & Lumber in American Canyon. In 2001 his partners retired and he then welcomed his children into the company, making it a family business.
In 2004, Guido had the privilege of erecting the Town Square buildings in downtown Vacaville where he frequently enjoyed coffee and music with his friends. Guido loved cooking for his friends and family, golfing, winning at the horse track, traveling back to Italy to visit his relatives and spending time at his cabin on the McKenzie River in Oregon. He adored his adopted hometown of Vacaville and frequently said that he felt blessed in his life, never missing an opportunity to give a helping hand to others. In lieu of flowers, his family would appreciate donations to be made in his name to the Vacaville Police Athletic League, Vacaville Boys and Girls Club and the St. Mary's food locker because Guido never wanted anyone to go hungry and he wanted all kids to enjoy the opportunities that he never had growing up.
Guido is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Yolanda Addiego; daughter, Susanna Brooks and husband Bryan; daughter, Sandra Over and husband Danny, and son Frank Addiego and wife Tiffanie. He also leaves his brother, Mario Addiego and wife Brenda; sister, Mary Ciarabellini and husband Giovanni; and sisters-in-law, Maria Guiseppe Addiego, Francesca Addiego and Elizabeth Addiego. He is preceeded in death by his parents, Francesco and Teresa Addiego; sister, Grace Dito, and brothers, Guiseppe Addiego and Salvatore (Ben) Addiego. He was the privileged Nonno to Brandon, Rachel, Lucia, Sabrina and Thomas Guido. He leaves many nieces and nephews as well as many cousins in both Italy and the United States.
Visitation services will begin on Sunday, Nov. 3 from 3 to 6 p.m., at McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main St., Vacaville, followed by a Rosary at 7 p.m., at St. Joseph's Church, 1791 Marshall Rd., Vacaville. Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10 a.m., on Monday, Nov. 4, also at St. Joseph's church. Burial and reception will follow. The family would like to thank all of the first responders for their efforts.

My heart felt sadness, from far away. Uncle Guido always has a place in my heart, as well as my children's. So blessed to have known him. What a wonderful family...a wonderful man.

One of my earliest memories of Guido was seeing his name prominently spray painted on the wall of one of the re-saw buildings at Channel Lumber in Richmond. This must have been around 1973 or so.

Guido even helped out in the actual lumber yard operations. His brother Bennie once asked Guido to come out of the office to help him cut a very large timber on the trim saw. Bennie was reluctant to cut it himself, and Guido was more than happy to help. Guido came out to the cut-off saw area, dressed in his office clothes, and he cut the timber himself. It was so large it had to be cut once and then flipped over and cut again in the same spot. Bennie was very grateful.

Guido will be missed by all.

God has called in a "mountain of a man", a very special citizen who was loved by many. Never one to talk about himself, and always willing to help others and be generous and anonymous, when possible, he was a poster child for mankind. He taught me, and all of his family how to live and how to treat others, so his loss will be felt immensely by all who knew him.
A long-time Raider fan, I am sure Al Davis had a hand in calling him upstairs, and he will quickly show them how to organize the place. We love you Guido, and all of your family. Go with God.

To the entire Addiego Family,

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I am truly sorry for your loss. A true legend has been taken from us way too soon. This has been a very difficult time for me...I can't even begin to imagine how difficult it must be for all of you. "Uncle Guid" was such an amazing man, I am very blessed to have had him in my life. He always had the biggest smile on his face and he could, and would, light up any room he walked into. He will truly be missed. I loved him like he was family, as he made me feel like I was family, and he will never be forgotten. I love you all and I am here if you need anything at all.
