Shocked to hear of Steve's passing. We go way back to the Journalism Department in the 70's and kept in contact through the years. He was always a willing volunteer as a bar tender at our fundraisers. I will miss knowing that Steve is just down the street. His memory will live on.

I used to see Steve more often, and I was always happy to see him when he came by. Even after leaving the police department, he would come by just to say hello, because he was a nice guy. One of the people I missed the most, was Steve. Knowing he was out there living his dream, and having a great time with his life is wonderful to know. He was too young to leave this world. My condolences to his family.

I am shocked & saddened to hear of Steve's passing. We worked together at the SLOPD -- where he was the ONLY one to make use of my shorthand abilities! Such a generous, caring individual -- and I felt lucky to be on the receiving end of his poems & generous music cassette tapes! I got in trouble with my boss, the Capt., when Steve would give me the best neck/shoulder massage! It was when harassment in the workplace was just becoming a big deal! I had to make it very clear that it was all above board and sooo appreciated after long hours of typing up reports for the Dept. We joked about it a lot! I still have the set of glasses he me and Ray for our wedding-- I use them everyday! I will always remember Thursday nights at the old Sebastian's watering hole! He was a true friend when you needed one, and the world will miss this man who shared his charismatic ways with all people! Rest in peace, dear Steve!
