Mary Jane Dodson, lifelong resident of Rolla, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at the age of 74.
She was born in Rolla on May 23, 1940 to the late Harry and Mildred (McCutcheon) Gibson. On July 4, 1982 she married Robert Dodson, who survives.
Mary retired from Sam's Tire Shop as a bookkeeper after 45 years of service. She loved Jesus and served as a Sunday School Teacher for 50 years. She was currently attending the First Assembly of God in St. James. Mary also volunteered as a Senior Companion in the community.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Phillip Borthacyre II, her brother, Charles "Ed" Pollard, and one nephew, David Pollard.
Mary will be greatly missed by her surviving family which includes her husband, Robert Dodson, of Rolla; one son, Phillip Borthacyre, of Rolla; stepdaughter, Teresa Abert and husband Ron, of Marine, IL; four grandchildren, Beth (Borthacyre) Allen and husband Clark, of St. Louis, MO, Anthony Borthacyre and Gabrielle Borthacyre, both of St. James, and Kathy Abert, of Marine, IL; two nephews, Doug Pollard and wife Ann, and Bob Pollard and wife Amy; two nieces, Donna Reid and husband Scott, and Elizabeth Clippard and husband Mark; cousin, Charles Jaques, of Rolla; and Mary's beloved pet cat, Albert. The family would also like to extend their gratitude to close family friends, Virginia and Joann Stiritz, and Kim Morgan for their help and support during Mary's final days.
A funeral service for Mary Dodson will be held at 2 pm. Sunday, November 2, 2014 at the Null & Son Funeral Home in Rolla. Interment will follow in the Rolla City Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service Sunday beginning at 12:30 pm. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Rolla Animal Shelter.
