WADE, Garth S. - On February 17, 2013 at age 96, Garth Sweeten Wade has gone to be with the Lord. Garth was born August 2, 1916, in Duncan, BC and raised in Kamloops, BC. He graduated from the University of British Columbia as a Mechanical Engineer in May 1941. He was a professional engineer and a member of the American Management Association and the Society of Mechanical Engineers. Garth's first job was with GE Canada and in 1943 he was posted to England as a 2nd Lieutenant Engineer in the Canadian army. On his return to Canada, he worked for Nashua Paper Corporation in Peterborough, Sydney, Australia, Chicago and Nashua, New Hampshire. Garth is survived by his son Mark Wade, and his daughter Joan Fotopoulos. He was predeceased by his first wife, Victoria May Wade in 1984, his daughter Donna Vivien Emmons, and his second wife, Margaret Maclean-Wade in 2011. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter "Butler" Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W., Toronto (between Islington and Kipling Aves.), on Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 10 a.m., followed by a Funeral Service in the Chapel at 11 a.m. Interment Assumption Cemetery. I didn't know Garth very well, but there was a magic about him. His love of life and the adventures he and Margie went on amazed me.
My deepest condolences to Garth's family and close friends especially, and to all those who's heart he touched.
