Though I did not know Neil's family, I offer my sincere condolences. I know you have to be fine people because Neil's light would have shown on you and Neil was one of the best and brightest.
I count myself as one of the fortunate to have known him even for a short while. His influence and contribution to the audio industry is vast and deep. On top of that, he was a genuinely pleasant and inspiring fellow.
He will be greatly missed while our world and our industry is a better world because of him. RIP Neil. There are no ground loops in heaven. Not now anyway.

Neil was one of my instructors when I was a student in the recording & prodcution technology program at Eastman School of Music.
He was a superb teacher, and I learned much from him both in the classroom, lab and away from school when we traveled on business together many years later when he was an adviser to Surgex.
Neil also had a terrific sense of humor
As one of his students, he influenced me in many ways, that have lead to positive things in my life.
If there is an audio engineering hall of fame, Neil should be in it !
Rest In Peace Neil

I'm very sorry to hear this news. Neil was a man of enormous knowledge, insight, and just plain sense who loved what he did, and loved to share it with others. He was a mentor to me, and his presence in the audio community will be deeply missed. RIP Neil..

I never had the opportunity to meet Neil in person, but I did spend some time soaking in his expertise after I posed a question to the Syn-Aud-Con list serve about an old theater I was consulting for. After a few emails, we connected via phone and he spent at least an hour schooling me on the history of theater sound and sharing stories of providing and designing systems for the Toronto film festival.
Before our series of conversations regarding the theater ended, he genuinely and warmly invited me to visit him if I was ever in the Toronto area. I remember being extremely humbled that a giant in the industry like Neil would spend several hours investing in a little "nobody" like me.
My deepest and sincere condolences to his family...

I will miss Neil. He's been in my thoughts since I heard the news of his passing. To all his friends and family I offer my sincere condolences. A brilliant man and always ready with an amusing remark or observation. He had a deep knowledge of audio and was generous with that knowledge. A few months ago we had talked about restoring some of his vintage tape recorders. It would have made him happy to see those working again. It's sad that he didn't get that opportunity.

Andy Condon called me to let me know about Neil's passing. I would like to send my condolences to Neil's family. We worked together at Nimbus 9 in the late '70s and early '80s. Neil was larger than life, very kind to newbies like myself, and was highly respected for his knowledge and intellect. He will be missed.
