RSM and I go back a lot of years, and through many adventures. First on the campus of Seneca College in 1972, then had a lot of good times in working together, living together, and racing together. He was truly 'one of a kind' and taught me many life lessons. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

My sincere condolences to Robbie's family. I always admired Robbie for his choice of making a living out of his passion for motorcycling while the rest of us were only weekend motorcycle enthusiasts. He was a true friend and Rocket motorcycle was the only establishment I trusted to work on my RD400 production racer. My fondest memory of him is when we placed "first" in our class at the 1975 24 hour race at Nelson Ledges and the "presenter" introduced us with the comment "A first place trophy for a second place team" and I was furious but Robbie laughed it off and calmed me down. May you rest in peace my friend.

Very sad to hear of Robbie's passing. I have many great memories of Robbie and Rocket Motorcycles. Robbie's shop was the place to be if you were a road racier and there were many of us hanging out. He had the best guys working there, Ron and Mike were already legendary tuners when they joined Robbie's shop. It was truly a magical time. God speed Robbie

Hello Gordon and Anne! My condolences to you both. It's funny how motorcycles can bring people together. Maybe it's because of being so vulnerable out there that makes us a unique group.
I met Robbie and consequently the both of you in 1968 through Bob Kelly your neighbour. Robbie was quite a contrast to me. He, a skinny little guy with John Lennon like glasses on a large motorcycle, that he had lean to the side when he came to a stop, in order to put a foot on the ground. And then there was me, a six foot four gangly guy riding a 250 Yamaha (wish I still had it). Quite a Mutt and Jeff scenario. We all would spend hours behind that dented garage door working on his bike. He would love to tinker with it, trying to make it faster. He would always chide me about my bike. I always wanted it kept stock, he wanted me to modify it. He would say " at least put flat bars on it ". I honesty don't know how your mother put up with it all... Some wonderful memories!

I only new Robbie for the past 8 months when he took on the rebuild of my bike. Got to know him and his character and his outlook on things. My constant questions probably drove him crazy. He always had the right answer and I will miss his replies.

Hey Ann and Gordon,
I was just glancing through the obits and learned of Robbie's passing.
My most sincere condolences.
You "Meiklejohn Kids" were quite the highlight of my childhood-Your visits to Harriston were always memorable (!!!) and Kathy and I had the experience of our lives when we spent a week in Toronto with your family.(I vividly recall that a certain hamster had given birth to many mini hamsters just prior to our arrival at Bombay Avenue.
Unfortunately-Kathy and I have plans to go to Brooklin this weekend or would surely have been honoured to attend the graveside service in Harriston.
Missed the Bonspiel yet again-please get in touch.

My memories of Robbie are not as pronounced as those of you-Ann and Gordon. He was there many times to be sure-but the age difference which is miniscule at this time would have been quite a gulf back then-Oh how that gap closes as time marches on.
My thoughts are with you.
Ann-give me a shout sometime-I regularly go to Palmerston to hook up with Kathy
and Newmarket might be a great stop-off.
Stay strong.
I googled Rocket Motorcycles and read some great stuff about Robbie.
Sincerely
Karen Bell

Rob I'm going to miss you. You were a friend when I needed a friend. We talked about nothing and everything to do with life, points of view and mostly motorcycles. I am honoured to consider you a friend. The world will be a little more empty without you.

My condolences to Gordon and Anne for the passing of Robby. As you know we met in about 1970 at University of Guelph with a mutual love of bikes as I saw him in our residence with Thunderclap (his Triton) torn apart in his room on the 3rd floor of our dorm. Suitably impressed we became fast friends and enjoyed the road for many years following. Although we lost touch for the last while there are many unique memories that will always remain and I will cherish. You will be missed squirrel.

I am deeply saddened by this news and send my condolences to his family. I first met Robbie over 25 years ago when my husband (at the time) was racing in the Eastern championships. We would always pit near the Rocket trailer and enjoy the good company of Robbie and his team. I will miss him and cherish my memories. Love to all

So sorry to hear about his passing. He took me in as a mechanic back in the days when Rocket was in it's brightest period. He was many things to me...mentor, boss, sponsor, advisor, and friend...and he did them all very well. He will be missed. Deepest condolences to the Gord (I remember your racing days) and Anne. RIP Robbie!

I owe Robbie a lot. He took me in as a technician back in the day when Rocket was in it's brightest period, gave me a job, and treated me like family. He was my boss, sponsor, mentor, and friend...and he did them all very well! He will be missed! My deepest condolences to the rest of the family.

My Condolences to the Family. Robbie will be sadly missed by my entire family; his light hearted, (at times) approach to life, and general inability to suffer fools, was an endearing quality that I respected.
He will be sadly missed by all that knew him, and the many people whose lives were a little better for having him in it.
We will miss you old mate.

I was saddened to hear of Robbie's death. I will miss his warmth and humour. His almost daily visits to my office always included a story or two that would make me smile Though we met through business I had come to think of him as a friend and he will be missed. Please accept my condolences.

My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Robbie.
I hadn't known Robbie very long, but in a short period of time he made a wonderful impact on my life. He was a significant source of inspiration, knowledge, and support, and I will forever cherish his friendship.
I have a great deal of respect and admiration for Robbie. He truly cared for his friends and customers (many of whom seemed to end up as friends!), and loved to teach. I am deeply saddened by his passing.
We will miss you so much Robbie, and we will always love you.

Robbie you have been devoted to your first love - motorcycles since I've known you. For over 30 years you've tuned my bikes, and regaled me with stories. I hope you are on a beautiful, long ride, through winding country roads with the wind at your back and a smile on your face.

My condolences to the family. Robbie was a long time friend through the motorcycle industry. He was one of the very first guys I met, as I started my career in the business in 1986. Robbie was my instructor when I got my road race license in 1987, and we enjoyed a number of track days together and just going out for rides too. You will be missed!! God speed my friend!
