WILLIAM (BILL) GEORGE LANNING Retired Toronto FirefighterJune 10, 1945 - February 20, 2013Following his last bridge game on Sunday and a visit to "the track" on Monday, Bill passed away quickly and peacefully athome the morning of Wednesday, February 20, 2013. Lovingfather of Angie and Brad, grandfather of Parker and Jack, brother and best friend of John, brother of sis Alice, and predeceased by brother Lloyd, Bill was born in Botwood, NL to parents Jack and Olive. He moved to the Beaches at age 5and later to Scarborough where he attended W.A. Porter Collegiate. A Toronto Firefighter (aka Goose) for 23 years, he often reflected on the great memories of the job and the lifestyle. Our warmest thanks toour awesome nurse Kelly Bastarache and to Dr. Harold Yuen for the excellent care and openness he had with Bill. Thanks as well to the huge support of family, friends and neighbors. Bill's last year of lifewas full of great times doing the simple things he loved, in the company of those he loved. He will be missed, in a big way, by many.

What a guy he was, I hope Bill enjoys his next life as much as he did this one, I'm sure he will
Was a great guy to work with, was always full of fun and mischief, was a heck of a firefighter when things got tough, one of the TFD legends that those who knew him will never forget
