VOELK, Judith Sharon "Judy"
With family by her side, our loving wife, mom, grandma, sister, and friend passed away on the evening of September 17, 2017, in St. Paul's Hospital, Saskatoon. Judy was born in Calgary, on April 14, 1944, to Jack and Hazel Tufts (Hadley). Soon after Judy's birth they resided in Landis and then Unity where she grew up. Judy moved to Saskatoon to attend Saskatoon Business College after high school. Lawrence and Judy were married on June 6, 1964, in Saskatoon. Eventually residing in Melfort where they raised their three daughters. Judy was a member of the Recreation Board in Melfort and later moved on to the Melfort School Board where she became Chairperson. Judy's employment included doing the books for Mamer & Voelk Construction, while raising her girls. Later finding a career with Ag Canada at the Melfort Research Station and later transferring over to P.F.R.A. She was actively involved in the Melfort Junior Hockey Booster Club. Judy's interests included watching sports, participating in bowling, and coffee time with friends. In the summer, her passion was planting flowers and spending her time at the cabin at Candle Lake. However, her biggest passion in life was her family and most particularly her grandchildren and special dog Max. Because of her overwhelming love for her family, Lawrence and Judy were in transition to moving to Saskatoon to be closer to them. Judy is survived by her loving husband Lawrence of 53 years, brother Rick Tufts (Toronto, ON), daughter Tracey (Kevin) Parker and their daughter Ashtyn (Saskatoon, SK), daughter Christine (Trevor) Mawson and their daughters Halle, MacKenzie, and Lexi (Saskatoon, SK). Judy was predeceased by her daughter Sheri Voelk (April 16, 1988), her parents Jack and Hazel Tufts, her father-in-law and mother-in-law Alphonse and Elizabeth Voelk. Funeral Mass will be celebrated from Our Lady of Consolation Roman Catholic Church, 104 Crawford Avenue West, Melfort, on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation of your choice to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Melfort S.P.C.A.
