Dr Emson accepted me as a pathology extern at St Paul's in 1973 when I was a medical student at Newcastle, UK . His energy and enthusiasm inspired me into pathology very much along similar lines - general surgical and forensic. I also served in the RAMC, Far East with Gurkhas having listened to Harry's anecdotes. As I approach the end of my career I smile at the memory of his wit and the larger than life personality of a very very good pathologist. Thank you Harry.

Susan, I am so very sorry for your loss. What an amazing life your dad lived. And such comfort you gave him in is final years. Take good care.

Dear Susan and Jane,
I was deeply saddened to hear the news of Harry's death. He memories of him revolve around his incredible generosity: Whether it was food, drink, or most importantly, laughs. Also, his capacity and desire to help (regardless of circumstances) were remarkable. When we were kids, and our parents were going away, my mother would take care to point to the list of contacts she'd recorded, in case of emergency. Then she'd turn to us and say, But, if you're in troublereal troublecall Harry. As you're aware, she had first hand knowledge: in a story too convoluted to share, he drove my mom to the hospital when she went into labour with me. Due to being out of the country, I was unable to attend his funeral, and deeply regret not helping to see out the person who'd helped see me in. He was a remarkable man and will be missed, enormously.

My profound condolences,
Shelagh McDonald

So sorry for your loss.
Dr. Emson will be missed and I still have fond memories of his pathology lectures. I am sure all of my classmates will remember his Friday POETS day ones in particular.
