REST IN PEACE
August 16, 2011
Our heartfelt condolences and prayers are offered for Mrs. Anne Murray and the Murray family. Colonel Murray was a giant and Great American Hero in our midst and he honored us. His fellow members of the Columbia Chapter of the Military Officers of America Association (MOAA) pledge to be there for you anytime, anywhere.

Through General Eugene Rogers, I was blessed to meet and get to know COL. Murray on several occasions. A more gentile gentleman I've never met. He like the other Medal of Honor recipients I've had the distinct honor of meeting, never saw himself as a hero. Thank you for gracing this Earth for 89 years. You will be sorely missed.

I had the honor to hear Col. Murray speak to students at Richland Northeast High School. I was very moved by his humble description of his service to this country. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

In deep Christian Sympathy,

God Bless all of you- family and friends. I got to meet Col. Murray, along with other Medal of Honor recipients, and he and the others are special, special people.

It has been a pleasure to have known you and to have parcipated with you on many occasions, the first being with you on the first " Honor Flight" from SC to visit our WW11 Memorial in Washington, DC. I am going to miss you very much. As our ranks are being depleted I grieve for all our comrades who are dying at the rate of over a 1000 a day. May the Good Lord watch over you and please save a place up there for me. Your friend and comrade in arms. Bill Amos 1SGT US Army (Ret)

The greatest honor of my military career was serving with COL Murray in the 196th Light Infantry Brigade in Vietnam. I had the opportunity to speak with him briefly at the MOH convention in Charleston last year. I salute you, Gallant Warrior.
