Frank Albert Mercier Sr. LEXINGTON - Frank Albert Mercier, Sr. 79, of Lexington S. Carolina - formerly of Essex Junction, Vermont passed away November 22nd after a short illness surrounded by his immediate and extended family in Lexington Medical Center, Lexington S. Carolina. Frank was born February 22, 1933 of the late Dewey Mercier and Alberta (Bo) Barber (Bushey). He was predeceased by his wife Ruby Mercier (Kimball) and his sister Audrey Bushey. He was also predeceased by his step-father, Clement Barber who treated him like his son. Frank proudly served his country during the Korean War in the US Marine Corps, Charlie Company division, as Corporal (E-3) January 1951 January 1956. Frank sailed ship on the U.S. Naval Ship General John Pope in route to Korea. Frank earned a National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. Frank continued to be a big supporter of the Veterans Association. Prior to retirement, Frank was employed by Ralph Bushey, L. Hershberg, and Jordan's Fine Food Products of Vermont. After retirement Frank and Ruby moved to S. Carolina to be closer to her sister, Rena Owens. Frank loved to do carpentry work. In the quality of the finish work of his cabinetry you could see your reflection in the cabinet doors - it was like looking in a mirror. He also liked to build models, go to deer camp, camping and fishing, cook and BBQ, ride his motorcycle, snow mobile, have a few drinks, laugh, play cards and be surrounded by family. Frank is survived by his daughter Denise Marcelino and her husband Donald, his son Frank Mercier, Jr., grand-daughter Shannon Marcelino-Aureli and her husband Michael, and his great grandson Matthew Sestilio Aureli. He is also survived by the mother of his children. Frank is also survived by his brothers Donald Mercier and his wife Phyllis and Walter (Wayne) Mercier and Virginia. Frank is also survived by his extended family in South Carolina, Diane Watson (Owens) Ruby's niece, and her friend Walter Blenman, Sr., Stephanie Smith and her daughter LaDonna King, and their children who all lovingly called him Uncle Frank. Frank lost a good best friend George Trombly a short time ago and has joined him. We wonder what mischief they could be up to. Frank is also survived by his ex-brother-in-law and best friend, Richard Twitchell and his wife Oneida. Visiting hours will be held at the Ready Funeral Home Mountain View Chapel, 68 Pinecrest Drive, Essex Junction from 4-7pm on Thursday, November 29. Frank was a very Special person and friend. I remember 50 years ago he was delivering potatoes to my Aunts store in Burlington I'm 9 years old and I am going to help he put a 50lb. bag on my shoulder and me seeing him carry them 3 at a time had to be the tough guy and said give me another. With his infectious grin on his face he complied and laughed watching me struggle all the way in. That was the start of a very long friendship we worked together at all the different companies. I can see him now sitting up there with George and watching over his Family and Friends. My deepest sympathy for your loss Denise, Frankie and all the Family, He's always with you in all you do.

Dad, thank you for taking me fishing, letting me catch salamanders and pollywogs if the fish weren't biting. Toting the iron skillet and one potato to cook our catch. For taking me on delivery trips in Bushey's potato truck and teaching me few songs along the way. I miss those special times spent with you Dad. This memory is definitely a big in'. I love you, Dad.
