Jack Youmans Rushing Sr. BRUNSON - Mr. Jack Youmans Rushing, Sr., 83, of Luray Highway near Brunson died Thursday morning, April 4, 2013, in Beaufort Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. He was married to the late Virginia Arledge Rushing. Born July 20, 1929, in Luray, SC, he was the son of the late Southward Rushing and Julia Youmans Rushing. Mr. Rushing served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict. He worked with the Department of Natural Resources as a Game Warden in Hampton County and also as a Probation Officer for the S.C. Department Probation, Parole, and Pardon Services. He was a member of the Luray Christian Church where he served as an elder. Mr. Rushing will be remembered as an avid outdoorsman. Survivors include two sons: Jack Y. Rushing, Jr. of Estill, SC and Steve Rushing of Brunson, SC, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Sunday April 7, 2013, at noon at Luray Christian Church conducted by the Rev. Noel Cooper and directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Browning Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home located at 300 Mulberry St. West, Hampton, SC 29924 (803-943-3352) on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. The casket will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. prior to the service on Sunday. Memorials in his memory may be directed to the Luray Christian Church, 90 Fitts St., Luray, SC 29932.
