With a knot in my throat and pain in my stomach I bid you a farewell. You were an essential part of the 1/9th from Fort Benning to Viet Nam. A true hero among many that started the legacy of our troop. You will truly be missed. throw some smoke so we can get together in our final resting place. See you on Fiddlers Green. Your old Trooper friend Jay Doc Hock Hockenbury My thoughts and prayers to your Family

I didn't know Larry well, only through the Bullwhip Squadron, but what I felt about him. He had a quiet greatness. He could get things done with a kind word and didn't need to raise his voice. Something a person gets when he has gone there and come back.
I know he's at Fiddlers Green now and one day we will meet again.

Elizabeth, thinking of you and praying your broken heart will be mended by the wonderful memories you shared together. I don't know when the pain gets better as I miss my daddy every single day. Know I'm here if you need anything.

Larry, you might have started your wartime service as "the kid" but you were an inspiration to those of us who came behind you. Your devotion not just to those you served with during your time in Vietnam, but to all who served in the same unit at other times, and to all who served, period, set you apart from the crowd. I don't know if there will ever be another Bullwhip reunion, but if there is, it will not be the same without you. Rest in peace, Larry. I am proud to have been your friend.
