Today I received this message in my Email, and read it with much sadness that Tony is not with us, yet his music, outstanding piano artistry and beautiful singing voice is right here with me (via his CD "Without a Song") to appreciate and never forget. Tony was not only a consummate musician but was a true gentleman in every sense of the word.

During a work stint in the Scranton area around 2002 , I was fortunate enough to stumble upon a performance by The Tony Costa Trio in my hotel lounge. Being a musician myself, I knew instantly that what I was listening to was truly remarkable. Subsequently I was very happy to introduce several of my peers to The Tony Costa Trio in the following months and his music unquestionably touched all of our lives in no trivial way. I've never forgotten his name in all these years, and always hoped to one day return to Pennsylvania to hear him play once more. Tonight I discover he has sadly passed on and I strangely feel compelled to share these thoughts on line. So Mr. Costa; Thank you for sharing your unbelievable talents, and thank you for playing a most memorable rendition of an obscure song I sheepishly requested one night, (I Could Write a Book). I will never forget your magical talents which affected me so profoundly and so much more than a mere musician playing a mere melody. I will never forget your name's sake trio and you will forever be my private personal inspiration. Cheers Mr. Tony Costa, wherever you are.

I was only a friend, but I think of Tony often and offer my belief that Tony watches over those who love him and hears every word that reaches out to him.
