Frank P. "Hank" Pauswinski, of Forest City, died Wednesday morning at home. His wife is the former Lee Johnson. The couple would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on Sept. 1.
Born in Camden, N.J., son of the late Michael and Tillie Pauswinski, he was a member of Ascension Parish, Forest City. He was a graduate of the 1964 GED class of the Forest City High School. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater with the 3rd Marines 5th Division, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion Post 524, Forest City. Before his retirement, he was employed as a construction worker.
Also surviving are two daughters, Linda Kutch and husband, Frank, Napanoch, N.Y.; and Brenda Korty and husband, Bruce, Montrose; six grandchildren, Frank Kutch and wife, Lynn; Barbara Doolittle and husband, Todd; Debra Haight and husband, Matthew; Brian Korty and wife, Ju-Young; Sharon Korty; Aaron Korty and wife, Sandra; five great-grandchildren, Alexa Kutch, Gillian Doolittle, Aidan Haight, Brendan Korty and Noah Korty; his adopted Hawaiian family, Sharla McCane, Onaona and Kawehi Thoene; Pomai Thoene and wife, Carla, and their children, Leslie Makana and Sam Thoene; several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Romano and Mary Pauswinski; three brothers, Michael, Joseph and John Pauswinski.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of AseraCare Hospice, especially Suzanne and Kristy, and the staff at the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center for the excellent and compassionate care given to Frank. The family would like to give a special thank you to Rev. David Delzell for his spiritual care.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main St., Forest City, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Delaware Street, Forest City. Interment with military honors, St. Anthony's Cemetery, Forest City.

Uncle Frank will be greatly missed. I'm honored to have known him and loved him. His visits down to Nanny always made me happy.
