James "Bambi" Coyle of Scranton died Friday at home.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Hugh and Rita O'Neill Coyle, he was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School, class of 1976. Before his retirement, he was employed by the Scranton School District in the maintenance department. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Scranton. He was a member of the St. Patrick's Parade Association of Lackawanna County. He was an avid supporter of the University of Notre Dame and the "Fighting Irish" football team. He played an integral part in the St. Patrick's Parade Committee, serving on the committee for more than 20 years as a parade day coordinator. He was chairman of the judging committee that handed out awards to the participants in the parade each year. He was the coordinator of the "Post Parade Bagpipe Tour" each year. Parade day was Bambi's favorite day of the year.
The Coyle family would like to thank Pat Dougher for his friendship with Bambi over the years. The family requests that anyone attending the viewing or funeral feel free to wear Notre Dame apparel or green clothing for St. Patrick's Day in honor of Bambi.
Surviving are two sisters, Maureen Coyle, Dunmore; and Betty and husband, Paul Del Rosario, Dunmore; nephews, John P. and wife, Deborah Coyle, Scranton; and Robert J. and wife, Kimberly Coyle, Taylor; a niece, Susan Del Rosario and partner, Kevin Mitchell; great-nephews, Anthony Del Rosario, Eric Mitchell and Brody Coyle; and great-nieces, Alyssa Mazzei, Quinn and Anna Leigh Coyle.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and John Coyle.
The funeral will be Tuesday from the Albert P. O'Donnell Funeral Home, 2025 Green Ridge St., Dunmore, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 801 Taylor Ave., Scranton. Friends are asked to proceed directly to the church the morning of the funeral. Interment will be private.

This is really a sad and a great loss indeed to all of us who have had contact with him. He was a very pleasant and accommodating personality. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. May his soul rest in perfect peace!

So very sorry to hear about Bambi's passing. Still so hard to believe he is gone. Bambi was truly a great guy, with a big heart. I ran into Bambi at memorial stadium last year, he had me laughing.while we chatted about high school and of course Lake Winola. Sorrow is not forever.......Love is!!!!!!!

So sorry to hear of this loss. Bambi was an amazing person. I lost my ring when I was a child when I put it on my lunch tray and he went through all the garbage to find it for me. The world was a better place when he was in it. May he rest in peace.
