James Tomasetti Obituary

James E. Tomasetti, 75, of Dunmore, died Friday morning at home. He is survived by his wife, the former Donna Rozelsky. The couple would have celebrated 27 years of marriage on May 29.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Angelo and Gertrude Larney Tomasetti, he was a graduate of Dunmore High School, and attended Lackawanna College. He was a Navy veteran and a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, where he volunteered as an usher. Before retirement, he worked as a heat treat controller for General Dynamics. He was a former president of General Dynamics Credit Union and a member of its golf league. He was a former member of the Dunmore Borough Zoning Board and was very active in local politics, working the polls every year at election time.

He was an avid Dunmore, Penn State and Buffalo Bills football fan, and had a passion for cooking. His sauce was "unbeatable." He enjoyed traveling frequently with his wife, especially the 13 cruises and the very memorable trip to Italy, but his favorite time was spent with his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Also surviving are daughters, Michelle Green, Scranton; and Christine Tomasetti-Sherer and husband, Thomas; a son, James and wife, Barbara, all of Aiken, S.C.; grandchildren, Meghan Green, Courtney Golden and husband, Matthew; Michael Allenwelt and Anna Tomasetti; great-grandchildren, Carson and Chloe; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and a beloved dog, Izzy.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Tomasetti and his wife, Micki; and a beloved dog, Nico.

The funeral will be Monday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Chestnut Street, Dunmore. Interment, Dunmore Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, 4 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pack Them with Love, an organization that was founded by his granddaughter, Courtney, to provide healthy snacks for elementary students on the weekends, at www.packthemwithlove.org.

I worked with Jimmy many years ago at the Scranton Dry Goods and I still remember him fondly. I would see him after that at Jerry's fights and we would talk like we had seen one another yesterday. He was a good man.
