To Teresa and all members of the Bircher Family:
I was so sorry to have learned of Freddie's illness and death and do want to send my deepest sympathies to you all. I knew Freddie for many years from my Alcan days. We first met in the 1970's, left the Company at roughly the same time and I believe could both say that we enjoyed some of Alcan's very best years and shared some wonderful colleagues and memories together. I only saw Freddie fleetingly when he was at Powell Duffryn and I was in Government and then only a couple of times when he was with PDSA and I was Chairman of the Horseracing Regulatory Authority. He was the consummate gentleman, an outstanding international business leader, bright, articulate and always caring and great fun to be with. I know he will be sorely missed.
I hope to be able to attend Freddie's Memorial Service at St Mary's Wimbledon at 2.30 pm on Monday 11th December,
Best regards,
John Bridgeman
