Our discourse of over 40 years covered multiple subjects, we only touched on the final hurrah once. I will treasure the last 3 photos you mail a month ago and will miss our monthly phone calls. Rest in Peace my friend Richard

Today is November 17th when a community of your friends will gather. If tears could bring you back, you'd be welcomed into the arms of a chorus of people who love you. I've been moved by stories of how tenderly you cared for people in their times of need.
Oh Richard, I miss you so much. You were amazing; you were an artist in many domains: as a physician/healer, as a lover of color and paintings, and as a participant in the mysteries of life and love. What you dealt with over the last few years was a remarkable and a rare feat. You faced and reconciled a lifetime of challenges, emerging with a lightness and love. You walked the talk – you lived life completely in tune with your true nature of curiosity, generosity, creativity; a desire to learn, and being connected to your artistic soul, your friends, and your family.
I am grateful for what you taught me by example and for the enduring love that we shared.... Today I will be with many others who love you as well, so we can share that sense of peace, beauty and hope that you lived.
And surrounding it all is Love.

Dear Richard,You were such a happy spirit, I will miss you immensely, I can't believe you are gone, I cherish all our childhood memories of you and of late, the time we went sailing on ST. Clair river and you were the captain of the ship.... I am writing this on my birthday, I will miss your funny birthday phone calls you made to me every year... so sorry you left us so soon...love

My sweet, noble and gracious twin-mate. You are the original edgy Renaissance man. You have the heart and soul of an artist. A scholar, an intellect, and a Leo extraordinaire (after all you do share your B-day with Sir Mick Jagger).

I am sending you smiles, laughter, love, and a burger from Liverpool Lil's! When we meet again on the other side, I will be the one wearing your favorite Opium perfume with a smirk on my face.

may your journey be lined with stars, dear friend. thank you for taking good care of all of me, of all of us, and making it your particular kind of fun on the way.

Richard was my savior many years ago when back went into spasm and became a friend. His passing brings sadness and he will be missed.

Richard 'Art' O'Brien, the irritainer. I really miss your funny insightful comments. You would have a few things to say about these times. - Colleen Sudekum, old close friend.

My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Dr Richard O'Brien. I remember his kindness and encouragement and how very much the nursing staff loved working with him at Mary's Help Hospital in the late 1970's. Sincerely, Marge Silva

To Richard: Friend, traveling companion, and fellow jokester. I thought there would be more fun times. I was wrong. You're gone and I miss you.
