I started working at Ferndale Public Schools in 1989 as a co-op student in the Business Office. As I crossed the stage at graduation he gave me the biggest hug. After graduation I continued to work at Ferndale. Once in a while on a beautiful sunny Friday he would come and tell all the employees that a tornadoe was coming and we should all go home and take cover. He knew how to make us all feel apprcieated. He was such a wonderful man. He will truely be missed by all that worked for him. Thank you Bill for all the wonderful things you did for Ferndale Schools.

Bill Coyne, as we in the Ferndale School District called him, was a wonderful, caring, and hardworking superintendent of schools. I shall never forget that when he hired me, he was offering me a chance in a lifetime to prove that I was a good teacher. I am forever grateful to him for giving me a chance back in l984. Not only did The Ferndale School District became my second home, but it has been my second family. It was a district that nurtured and brought out the best in its employees.
Thanks to Bill, I enjoyed the best years of my teaching career; I was able to develop my skills and talents and share my ideas with so many young people. That is why I continue to give back to the district that believed in me; and that is why I continue to serve, even after retirement.
May Bill's legacy last on. And may all the good deeds -- that he has done for other -- flow into the next generation and thereafter.
