Carroll Shoffner Obituary

MORRIS, OK - Mr. Carroll Monroe Shoffner, 84, of Morris, OK, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at the Hospice Care Center in Chattanooga, TN.

A native of Alamance County, NC, Mr. Shoffner was the husband of JoDee Crandall Shoffner and son of the late Harvey E. Shoffner and Naomi Shoffner Stone. Carroll and his brother Eugene started Shoffner Brothers Lumber Company in 1954. In 1964 Carroll went on his own to start Shoffner Industries Inc. in Burlington, NC, that grew to the largest truss manufacturer on the East Coast with 18 facilities. Shoffner sold the company to Universal Forest Products in 1998. Carroll was blessed over the years with so many dedicated and talented people that help him in his success. He was also an avid member and contributor to the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Alamance Civitans, and the Boy Scouts of America, as well as many other community projects.

Surviving other than his wife of the home are two daughters, Regina Shoffner and Cindy Shoffner; a step-daughter, Rebecca Harden; six grandchildren, Sonja Nicole DeVo, M. Graham Lopez, Robert Mark Trollinger, Natalie Lynn Trollinger, Eric Monroe Shoffner, and Wendy Michelle Nisewonder; a sister, Ann Sutton and three Great Grandchildren. Mr. Shoffner was preceded in death by a son, Mark Monroe Shoffner; a daughter, Janie Navarra; a brother, Eugene Shoffner; and a great grandchild, Rylee Mark Trollinger

We will begin the Memorial Service at 3:00 PM, on Sunday. A Celebration of his life will take place at the Carroll M. Shoffner Building at 301 Drama Road, Snow Camp, NC 27349. Please dress warm and bring a covered dish, light refreshments and memories to share.

Instead of sending flowers that fade, please consider sending donations to Weimar Institute Development Office, Attention: Keith, PO Box 486, Weimar, CA 95736, for the C. M. Shoffner Memorial Fund. This would honors Carroll's love for God's healing message of health. This memorial would train others to start Lifestyle Center like the one he met his wife at.

JoDee. I am so sorry for your loss. I am a 6th cousin. My dad, also W. Carroll Shoffner was a 5th cousin. We meet cousin Carroll when he dropped by our house one summer day. He knocked on the door. I answered as a small child and he said hello, my name is Carroll Shoffner. I yelled and ran for dad...... theres a jokester here at our door. He said he is YOU!!! I exclaimed.
Dad came to the door. We invited him in and all had a laugh.
He said he always loved to visit new relationships anywhere he was using the phone book.
He and dad struck up a conversation and dad eventually moved to Burlington and worked for him in the metal shop building trailers.
Your husband was a kind man to us. He took dad under his wing (CM was 5 years older). He took him up in his Beechcraft Baron and oddly enough, the last time dad saw him was in Wichita, KS when CM bought his Rayetheon Premier. (Dad was working on that Plane at that time).
Anyway, dad was just asking me to look him up to see where he was and it shocked us that he had passed. Dad is very shaken and is just speechless.
Again, so sorry for you loss. Know he was a good man and well thought of here in Arkansas.
Sincerely, Eric Shoffner

JoDee, Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you reflect on your precious years with Carroll. We met you just before you married, and it seems he brought a sparkle into your life, and encouraged you to keep up with your music and other positive outlets, even as you encouraged him to maintain the positive health habits he learned at LCA, and together you blessed many people. We know God will guide in your future plans, and things will unfold as Providence guides. If you are ever in North Central Arkansas, please look us up! We would love to reconnect...Skip, Holly and Elijah Joers

One of my fondest memories was when I was working in your home when a tornado alert threat sounded. You were at the Ranch, me and JoDee were at the house. I tried keeping her off the top galcony, which she finally did come down. Having no cellar JoDee and I decided to go into the little bathroom between 2 bedrooms. We pulled a matters off a bed dragging it into the little bathroom, trying to pull it over on us as we were in the tub. The air was so still a hot as I remember. She and I kept accidently turning the tub faucet on us because of the space we had in the tub we were crunched. we began singing hymns and praying. Soon we heard Carroll hollering for us, where are you? He found us in the tub singing. He laughed and told us to come out that it had been over for a bit. Love memories. Soon and very soon we will see our King and those we hold dear. Love you JoDee. If you need someone to pray with, remember me.

Dear Mrs. Shoffner,

I did not know your husband, Carroll, personally but I wish I had. I've come to know him through those that benefitted from his dedication and commitment to serve.
During my brief tenure with the Old North State Council, Boy Scouts of America I have learned much about Carroll's generous spirit for local Scouting. We deeply appreciate Carroll's long-tenured devotion to the Boy Scouts of America.

From discussions with Carroll's friend, Mr. Bill Brackett (my predecessor as the local Scouting CEO), I have come to learn that Carroll was a man of strong faith and one who demonstrated a true commitment to improving his community. Your husband's values have been and will remain the cornerstone of the Boy Scouts of America movement: Duty to God, County (and community), and service to others before self.

On behalf of the Old North State Council, Boy Scouts of America, please accept my condolences on the loss of your husband. You and your entire family are in my thoughts and prayers.
