Barbara and Family, We are so very sorry for the loss of"Flying Chicken". A legend is gone from this area. My favorite story about him is the "Chicken on the Side" story. He was larger than life and will be missed by many.

Sorry for your lost Barbara,, Flying chicken will be missed,, no other driver seems we have known was like him. I run the west cost with him several times back in the 70's, 80's + he hauled several loads for my uncle here in Burlington as well. Just a few weeks ago we saw the red truck coming out of the Old Williams Texaco Station in which is a Shell now and me Kathy started talking about Larry. I have met several people over the years in all different parts of the country that knew of Flying Chicken by name or by that Blue/White truck in the early days. Now he is with some of the other drivers we have lost from the days of real Trucking sitting and telling the stories telling every body how good they are for a hour and then showing them. And again for your loss Barbara, Tom and Kathy Placer associated with Placer Trucking of Burlington, NC
