My condolences to Mrs. Collins family. She taught my sons at Harvey Newlin. I ran into her about 2 years ago and she remembered me instantly. She told me how much she enjoyed teaching them and how she knew they were going to be phenomenal young men. I'm pleased to say they both are and because of teachers like her. Thank you so much Mrs. Collins for using your gifts to reach all our children. Rest in Paradise.

Shirley and her husband Glenn have been our beloved neighbors and friends for the past 25 years. We have enjoyed many times going to dinner or just visiting and enjoyed the many conversations with Shirley where you could tell that being a teacher of young children was her passion because many of her conversations were about her students. Being the friend Shirley was, she many times brought us a small gift, some flowers from her yard or a food treat. Shirley definetly had a green thumb and we asked her advice on many things. Shirley's loving heart, her dedication and love for her family and friends shinned light a beacon light. We loved Shirley very much and we will miss her every day. Knowing she is in heaven with her lord and saviour will be a comfort to all that had the pleasure of knowing and spending time with her. Our love and prayers are with the family.

Shirley was a great inspiration to be around on a a daily bases as a fellow teacher at the Harvey Newlin Elementary School. She was full of wisdom,(loved her one liners), joy, compassion, love & a God given talent to reach & teach all students, parents & staff members. She talked a lot about her husband Glenn, their daughters & her excitement of having grandchildren in her life.

Having stayed in touch with Shirley & Glenn over the past few years, I was sadden to hear that her battle for health ended. However,I'am sure that by faith she is in Heaven now with her Lord & Savior. I'll miss her laughter & smiles as she took everyday & challenges that she faced with grace. All my memories are of Shirley are good & positive....that's the kind of person she was! Shirley touched so many lives for the better in every way possible.

My deepest condolences to Glenn, your children, grandchildren & family.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Shirley my first year of teaching. We were classroom neighbors and had a connecting door. She was an amazing teacher, mentor, and friend. I also had the chance to work side by side with her her last 2 years at Newlin on the same grade level.

I'll never forget how much she loved to share her wealth of knowledge on just about any topic. She was full of life! She always spoke of her family and she was so proud when she became a grandmother.

Shirley will be greatly missed. I forever grateful for her as a friend and for everything she did to help me as a teacher. My condolences to her family.
