To Frank Gil& Marc I want to send my sympathy Was out of town and just found out. Your Mom was a beautiful woman and such a dear dear friend to my Mom Katie Diorio. I can still hear her beautiful voice at my wedding. Love to all of your family. Jennie (Diorio)Murnane
All the wonderful messages of support are so greatly appreciated! We honored Mom today in a very special and fitting way. She is now in heaven singing with the heavenly choirs, and smiling on us all. She touched so many people's lives - I am fortunate to have had her as my mother. Our fierce bond will continue to grow strong as I pray to her for guidance in my daily challenges. I only need to ask "what would mom do?" and I know I'll be headed in the right direction. Thank you, Mom, for being the most amazing mother. You are so loved, always!
My condolences to Mrs. Iafolla's family and friends. I met her when I was a seminarian in Cleveland and my parents moved to Columbus and St Andrew. She was fantastic with the choir, knew how to relate to Fr Schultz, God rest him, and how to motivate people ... my mother enjoyed her friendship very much. I have fond memories of Christmas and Holy Week masses there, with Mrs Iafolla directing music and choir. She was also very supportive of my ministry when I was in El Salvador. May she rest in peace. I so wish that I could be there for her funeral mass. God bless you all and her. Fr Joseph Callahan
Marc, sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. Hang in there. I know these can be tough times. I went through them a few years ago myself. Keep your faith, and remember all the good times. Thinking of you, your friend.
Growing up attending Saint Andrews school and church I had the opportunity to be blessed by Mrs. Iafolla many ways. I especially remember midnight mass's beautiful music on Christmas Eve. The Variety shows were alot of fun to be involved with. Thank you Lord for blessing so many with her wonderful life.
Gilia was a wonderful, generous and loving person. She was a dear friend to my parents and to our family. I will miss her dearly. God Bless you.
My Bella Aunt Gilia
I will miss the special times we shared together. No matter the pain or discomfort you were experiencing you always gave me a smile. You always said I reminded you of your Mother making others laugh and I take that as a compliment. Aunt Gilia I hope you realize how many times you made all of us smile and laugh. One of your amazing talents was being a self taught pianist and Italian Opera singer but one of the most remarkable gifts you gave everyone is your "Love and gift of acceptance". As I sit here thinking of the many treasures you shared I recognize how fortunate we are to have been a part of your life forever. Memories last a lifetime as well as your "Spirit". Thank you Aunt Gilia for going out of your way to say your last good bye to all of us on Christmas Day. You knew God was calling you but you had one last journey to complete with your family. You DID so and we are Blessed to have shared Christmas with such an Angel! I love you Aunt Gilia, Rosemarie
God Bless the Iafolla family. Mother I was a generous, loving, classy lady. She was like a mom to me and I love her and will miss her. She will always be in my heart. Nancy Bowen
I'm truly sorry for your loss. In your time of sorrow, draw close to one another and God as He gives you comfort, hope, and peace.
I Remember A Beautiful Spirit Who Directed A World Class Choir At Saint Andrews. She Double Checked The Altar Boys Gold Accented Wear At Mid-Night Mass; I Was One .Blessings To Her Entire Family .From The Bender's of Lane Road .
To Mark and the Iafolla family. Your mother was a wonderful woman. My deepest sympathy.
Our deepest sympathy on the loss of your mom......a great lady.....our friend!!! Gilia was such a graceful, classy, gentle loving woman and lived her life just as the meaning of her name states....Gilia= Joy of the Lord, Eternal joy....and that is what she gave to all!!!!! Heaven I am sure was so excited to receive her and have her join the Heavenly choir of Angels!
We love you Gilia and you will never be forgotten!!!!
To all of Gilia's family. I met Gilia when I moved here from Youngstown. What a wonderful and loving person. Gilia will be truly missed. Pandora
It's been a great blessing for me to admire & love Gilia Iafolla for four decades as her son-in-law. She was a priceless gem who won't be forgotten by anyone who knew her. Hers was a life well-lived.
And such a legacy! But most important is Gilia Iafolla's perpetual gift -- namely her immortal and indefatigable spirit -- freely available on-loan to any of us today and forever. Indeed, I'd wager that Mom is gently suggesting from the other side of life that each of us focus beyond our pain to instead see and celebrate our shared memories.
Through my teary eyes I see and hear her now... singing joyfully for those she loved and who loved her.
Aloha nui loa Gilia Iafolla!
For many years Mrs.I was like a Mother to me. After my real Mothers passing she became my new mother. She liked that very much. I could walk right in to her home without knocking and receive a hug and a kiss. Sunday dinners were greatly anticipated and there was always room for one more. Her special prayers were responsible for getting me through my most difficult times, She will be missed dearly.
To the Family of Ms. Iafolla, I am sorry to hear of her passing, she was special, beautiful woman inside and out. I always enjoyed our talks, and her wonderful outlook on life. God bless you.
