Patrick Deer Obituary

Deer, Patrick
1942 - 2017
Patrick Duane Deer. Born July 22, 1942 in Ironton, Ohio. Died August 15, 2017 at his home in Grove City, OH. He was a resident of Grove City for over forty years. A hard worker for his entire life, Pat was a professional musician for over twenty years, including seventeen as the business partner and lead guitarist for The Tiny Wellman Band. After leaving the music business, he worked for Dominion Homes until his retirement a few years ago. Pat was a generous man who loved his family. He loved to laugh and to make other people laugh. His life was characterized by his toughness and perseverance in the face of the many challenges that came his way. He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Sue (nee Stout); his son, Darrell (Anita) of Amherst Ohio; his grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye and the pride of his life, Andrew (Hannah) of Kansas City Missouri, Sarah (Stephen) Brooks of Amherst, Ohio, and Evan of Amherst, Ohio; his great-grandchildren, Henley, Amelia, Arbor, and Winston; his brother, Gerald; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Alberta Deer, and his brothers Fred and Carroll. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH, where a funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., conducted by Pastor Darrell Deer. Burial will follow at Concord Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the rebuilding fund of the College Heights Baptist Church in Elyria, Ohio, 980 N. Sue: I just learned of Pat's passing when your Christmas Card was returned to me. I am so very very sorry to hear of his loss. Pat was a wonderful man as you well know. I always enjoyed his sense of humor. My last visit was seeing you and Pat at Scioto Downs....I hope all is well with you, Sue. My warmest thoughts and prayers are with you always! Jim Houck

We knew Patrick for over 40 yrs, He was a hard working family man and a trusted friend. Patrick was my all time favorite lead guitar player and could answer almost any question regarding the early Nashville scene. I cherish the time we spent together. A great loss.
Love and prayers to Sue, Darrell and all the family.
