Willie Ella Mathis, age 96, died peacefully on Sept. 10, 2017 at North Metro Hospital in Jacksonville, after a brief struggle with cancer.
Willie was born Aug. 9, 1921, in Marianna, the daughter of London and Ella Reader Walker.
Willie is survived by her five daughters and one son, Bertha Jones, Lena Birmingham, Shirley Kelly (Moses), all of Rochester, N.Y., Diana Sanders (Napoleon) of Jacksonville, Vertee Porter of Kansas City, Kan. and Dorothy Tisdale, of Rochester, N.Y., the oldest grandchild of many grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and close friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017 at The North Little Rock Church of Christ, 1708 Highway 161, North Little Rock, AR 72117.
