I was so sorry to hear that Colinda lost her battle with cancer. She was a delightful gal and will be missed by many people. Sorry I didn't make it to memorial serice but know that I will be thinking of you Don,and praying for you while you make your adjustments.
Co was the first person I connected with in DFG when promoting up here to Eureka. She worked at Mad River Hatchery and I lived there until my family found a house to buy. That was 1997. In late 2004, I found myself getting a job with the Arcata Salnomid office where she worked. She was the only one I knew or related to at the time. Some of the things we talked about were art, travel and being women in the outdoor industry. I have to say, I brag when people ask about my bighorn sheep sculpture on my desk. I say "Co gave that to me"....later Co.
We just learned today of Colinda's passing. We will miss her. We greatly admired her artistic talents and appreciated her serene presence. Our prayers are with her family.
My sympathy in the loss of a super lady and a good friend
I had the good fortune to meet and get to know Colinda when my work as the HFAC Freshwater Creek Salmon Trapping and Spawning Station manager back in the 80's required spending a lot of time at Mad River Hatchery. She left an immediate and indelible impression--hard working, no complaints, good sense of humor, bright, confident. We lost touch until a few years ago when I contacted her about doing some stained glass work. She was no longer doing the glass work commercially but she did have some ceramic work she thought I might be interested in. It was beautiful work - fish that could only have been made by someone with her intimate knowledge and love of the creatures she studied. I ended up buying a couple of her pieces and as a result was given the opportunity to visit with her a few more times and to get to know this huge artistic side of her I wasn't aware of previously. I was so taken by her courage, indomitable will and positive outlook. In death as in life Colinda is an inspiration to all. Our community has lost one of its best. May you rest in peace, Co, after the battle you fought so long and so well.
