Evelyn helped me find Jesus at First Baptist Church in Salt Lake City. She had the warmest smile and gave great hugs. Good job faithful servant.

A woman a great faith and great skill from whom many of us learned the basics of Christian Education.

As a colleague, it was always a pleasure to work with Evelyn. We worked together with young people of the Baptist Youth Fellowship.

Evelyn was my colleague, mentor, and friend. We first met at the old American Baptist Publication Society building in Philadelphia. I had just graduated from seminary and she had just joined the youth staff. Later, she was a colleague at the ABC headquarters in Valley Forge, PA. Along the way, she became a close friend.

What I remember most about Evelyn is her willingness to try new things. Joining the youth staff in her 40s made her a pioneer, as did her move to Ohio as the first woman area minister in the ABC. On a lighter note, I remember the cross-country ski trip she took with three of us younger colleagues--her first time on skis. She was such a good sport.

I also remember her as one of the most non-judgmental people I have ever met. She always found the good in people, regardless of the way they were being criticized by others.

Evelyn had a profound influence on my life. Her spirit will always be with me.
