To the Liguouri family, my deepest sympathies. I'm learning of Sam's passing much after the fact, but wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed working with him at WBAX from 1971 to 1974. For much of that time, I was on the air overnight, right before he came on the air. He was always positive, bright, funny and friendly -- all the right touches for the morning drive announcer. I was the guy on the air overnight when Tropical Storm Agnes ripped through the valley. Sam came in to take over the studio in the morning, along with GM Jim Ward and Engineer Paul Kelly, and soon he had to announce we were going off the air because we had no way to get information for our listeners -- WBAX was the last radio station in the Wilkes-Barre flood area to shut down, but we were back on in several days. Afterward, I moved into the news department and had the great fortune to work with Sam every morning as his newsman. Great memories. He was a terrific person, and I learned a lot from him. I know he is missed. All my best -- Ken (Gordon) Robinson

Sandy & family,
So very sorry to hear of Sam's passing. My dad always spoke so highly of him and the good times they had in the radio business. Sam said my dad told him Polka music is happy music :) they both loved what they did so much. I know there is now the best Polka Party in heaven. RIP Sam.

Sandy and Family, our deepest condolences. I called him Junior even though he was my Uncle Sam. When I was young he would play the piano and if I guessed the song, he would give me a penny. I also became a DJ for many years. He will be missed by the Gardner family. Love, Chuck & Diane Gardner

Sandy...our sympathy to you and all members of your family. Sam's death was brought to our attention by some of the old gang still living in "The Valley".

We crossed paths and he was always a warm and friendly person who knew the important things in life. Sympathies to his family for their loss.

My deepest sympathies to the Liguori family during this difficult time. Although I did not know Samuel I was very close with his daughter Deni who unfortunately was unable to be by her fathers side when God called him home. Deni spoke very highly of Samual the strong stern yet loving and gentle man he was as a father. The measure of a man is best seen in the love of his children and his children's children as I often see this exemplified by the strong beautiful person Deni has become. God bless I know he is watching over you.

Sandy... our sincere condolences to you and your family. I truly enjoyed working with Sam because he was a gentleman, friend and a top notch professional broadcaster. He left me with many fond memories. May he rest in peace.
