I had the honor and privilege of working with and getting to know Darren during my short time at the Servicemember's Legal Defense Network. He was a sincere, honest, courageous, humble, passionate man who not only honorably served our nation in the Army, but honorably served our nation afterwards by fighting for and helping advance freedom, equality and human rights. His energy and enthusiasm was contagious. He was a beautiful man on all levels. It's sad and tragic he left our world too soon, but he left our world a better place because of his bravery, commitment and actions. I will never forget him. My thoughts go out to him, his family, friends and husband.

I am so sorry this fine young man has died. I remember him from 60 minutes. I have a son who is Gay and I admired the courage that Darren showed with his honesty. He served his country proudly. My deep sympathy to his husband. ......to have just been married in July and this happens. Such unbelievable pain. I can't say I'm sorry enough.
