William Eugene "Gene" Caswell
age 91, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Trinity Twin City Hospital in Dennison, following a sudden illness. Born Feb. 5, 1922, at Bowerston, Ohio, Gene was the son of late William and Stella (Harshey) Caswell.
In 1940, Gene graduated from Bowerston High School. He was a United States Army Veteran. Gene owned Gene's Auction Barn and also operated a truck stop in Uhrichsville. He retired in 2005. Gene was a member of the AIC, American Legion, VFW in New Philadelphia, Masonic Lodge where he was a 32nd Degree Mason and a life member of the Elks 424 and the Dennison Eagles. He enjoyed bowling and golfing, where he golfed in many leagues at Big Bend. Gene was especially proud of the fact that six times he had a hole-in-one.
Gene is survived by his wife who he married in May, 1978, Dorothy "D. J." (Ross) Caswell, who survives of the home; his children, Todd and Farrah (Caswell) Raines of Uhrichsville and Donald Richie Davis of Uhrichsville; two step- children, Christine (Rob) McDouglad of Tucson, Ariz. and Kelly (Cindy) Ripple of Uhrichsville; a granddaughter, Karlea Davis; and a grandson, Alex Davis. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Charli Caswell; and a son Kenny Caswell.
Funeral services for Gene will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc. at Uhrichsville, with Pastor Lisa Meese officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Uhrichsville, with the New Philadelphia VFW conducting military graveside services. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m., on Monday, July 15, 2013, at the funeral home, with Masonic Services at 7:45 p.m.

Kevin and I are so sorry to hear of your loss! Words cannot fully express our sympathy. Gene was a wonderful man.. such a loving man to those around him. I adored his smile and laugh! Its hard to believe this wonderful man has went to join the angels. He will be greatly missed. I worked for him some at the Auction Barn and he was great to work for; very amusing. RIP Gene.
