Erik Lewis 1978 - 2018
ILION - Erik Lewis, 39, passed away August 27, 2018 after an extended illness.
He was born December 18, 1978, in Ilion, the son of Dale and Charlene Wentworth Lewis and was a graduate of Mohawk High School and the BOCES welding program.
Erik was last employed as a welder with Austin-Mohawk in Utica. He was baptized in Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk and was a former member of the Ilion Fish and Game Club.
Erik is survived by his parents, Dale and Charlene; two brothers, Kevin and his fiancé, Jenny Spinelli, of Mohawk and Ryan, of Ilion; and a niece and a nephew, Kara Lewis and Nicholas Mower. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Shireen and Coleen Wentworth, Maureen and Dave Chisholm George and Jayne Wentworth; and his great-aunt, Arlene Barcomb. He was predeceased by a brother, Neil; his grandparents, Mabel Wentworth, Virginia Eddy, Ben Lewis; his great-grandparents, Alice Barcomb and Florence Eddy; and aunts, Darlene Starring and Corrine and John Fink.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, August 31, 2018, at 1:00 p.m., at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Mohawk, with Fr. Mark Cunningham officiating assisted by Sr. Mary Jo Tallman. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until noon, at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego Street, Ilion.
Friends are asked to consider memorials to the Herkimer Co. Humane Society PO Box 73 Mohawk, NY 13407 or CABVI 2200 Dwyer Utica, NY 13501, in Eric's memory. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
