Harris, Ann WATERVLIET Ann Saffaras Harris, 90, died peacefully Thursday, June 20, 2013 at her home at the Teresian House in Albany. Born in Lowell, Mass. on June 4, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John Saffaras and Sophie Zounes Saffaras Holland. She was a graduate of Troy High School and Troy Business College. Mrs. Harris retired from RPI in Troy in 1974 as the head cashier in the controller's office. Prior to that, she was employed by the Watervliet Arsenal during World War II, Stanley's Dept. Store in Troy, All Aluminum Window Manufacturing Co. in Green Island, Trojan Modernization Co. and was a legal stenographer for the former John F. and Robert T. Murray, Attorneys in Troy and the Lee, Leforsester, Casey and Malone, Attorneys in Troy. Mrs. Harris was a member of the Watervliet, Troy and Colonie Senior Citizens, and the Watervliet VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was a communicant of the former Sacred Heart of Mary Church in Watervliet and Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Latham. She was the beloved wife of the late William H. Harris Sr.; devoted mother of William H. (Mary) Harris Jr. of Watervliet and Cynthia Harris (Peter) Mesick of Latham; loving grandmother of Lisa Harris (Stephen) O'Brien of Clarks Summitt, Pa. and William J. (Vivian) Harris of New Providence, N.J.; loving great-grandmother of Kathryn and Christopher O'Brien and Mia and Anabelle Harris; sister of the late Christos, William, Charles and Thomas Saffaras and Lelia James; stepsister of the late Jane Holland Wagner; sister-in-law of Phyllis and Helen Harris and Demitria "Lou" Saffaras. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at the Teresian House for providing a loving and caring home for our mom for the past 11 years. The funeral will be Monday at 9:15 a.m. from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 10 a.m. at the Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham. Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery, Watervliet. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions would be appreciated to the Teresian House Foundation, 200 Washington Avenue Extension, Albany, NY 12203.

Cynthia and family, I am sorry to hear of the passing of your beloved mother. My mom has fond memories of the times she and my dad spent with your mom and dad, and always spoke highly of your mother. I know how devoted you were to your mom and I am thinking of you at this sad time.
