Fila, Anna S. ALBANY Anna (Stuart) Fila, 90, died on Monday, June 2, 2014 in the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Drury Run, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Allen A. and Rose Elizabeth (Batdorf) Stuart. Anna was the widow of Richard Fila, who died in 1992. She leaves behind her loving family of daughters, Carol Anne Fila Carpenter (John E. Deyoe) and Frances F. Franke (Stephen); her son, Richard Fila (Christina); granddaughters, Maran Franke Person (Edward) and Kristin Franke (Michael Stalker); great-grandson, Maxwell Person; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband. she was predeceased by her aunt and uncle, Sally and George Stuart, who raised her after she was orphaned at a young age; her sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth Bluhm and Dr. Phillip Bluhm, and her son-in-law, David R. Carpenter. Formerly of Williamsville, Anna received her R.N. from the Buffalo General Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of the Cadet Nursing Corps when she met the love of her life and husband, Richard at a U.S.O. dance. Anna left the nursing profession to raise her family and always took great pride in the achievements of her children and grandchildren. Anna was a member of NSDAR Tawasentha Chapter and the Bethlehem Grange 137. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening, family parties and being surrounded by loved ones. She was always eagerly anticipating the next family gathering. Anna was proud of her Scottish heritage, and wearing the family plaid. Funeral services will be held at 9:15 a.m., on Friday, June 6, 2014, from the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany, thence to the Parish of Mater Christi, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home on Thursday, June 5, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. The NSDAR Tawasentha Chapter and the Bethlehem Grange 137 will conduct services at 5:45 p.m. and 6 p.m. respectively on Thursday. Rich and family, I am so very sorry for your loss. I remember your Mom well from the hours and hours I spent in your house during high school. She was a special person and raised a wonderful son (daughters too, I am sure but I don't know them). Sending a big hug. I know she will be missed.
