Kearney, Catherine A. (Kaufman) BALLSTON LAKE Catherine "Cathe" A. (Kaufman) Kearney died on Friday, February 15, 2013 at her home, surrounded by family and friends. She was 73 years old. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late John J. Kaufman and Elizabeth (Lyon) Kaufman. Cathe spent her childhood in Rensselaer. She married her late husband, Frank, on June 8, 1957 at St. Joseph's Church in Albany. They enjoyed their love for more than 50 years. Cathe's first job was with F.W. Woolworth and later with the New York Telephone Company. In 2001, Cathe retired from the Glen Sanders Mansion in Scotia. She was the assistant restaurant manager and began her career with Mazzone Hospitality in 1981. With Cathe's kindness, sincerity, humor and wonderful personality, she made many friends during her 40-year career in the restaurant business. Cathe and her husband, Frank enjoyed spending time in their home in Arizona and traveling about the country, and loved sharing stories of their travels in Ireland. Cathe loved to talk about the things that she had seen and the places she had been. Her adventures traveling around the country started when she was a child and she never lost her enthusiasm for exploring new places. Cathe was a truly devoted wife, mother, sister and friend. Her endearing love to her children was well known. She enjoyed being involved with their activities. She had a special bond with each one and was always available to listen, hug, encourage, comfort and love. She made each feel very special. Her passing will leave a void in the hearts of the people who knew her and her smile will be forever etched in their hearts. Cathe loved her little dog, Winslow, who gave her great joy. He is such a good boy. Cathe will be missed by her family, daughters, Kim M. Wilson and her husband, Cody, of Casa Grande, Ariz., and Colleen Clough and her husband, Joseph, of Saratoga Springs; sons, Frank E. Kearney Jr., and his wife, Joanne, of Clifton Park and John P. Kearney and his wife, Madonna, of Wilton; her brothers, James Kaufman and his wife, Margaret, of Guilderland, and Francis Kaufman and his wife, Robin, of Stuyvesant; her brother-in-law, John P. Kearney and his wife, Lynda, of Loudonville; and her grandchildren, Joshua, Nicholas and Cassandra Prock, and Reilly Wilson and great-granddaughters, Addison and Tessa. She has several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Cathe was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband, Frank E. Kearney Sr. in October 2007; her parents, John J. and Elizabeth Kaufman; sisters, Mary Russell, Elizabeth Vail, Barbra Norton; brothers, Harry K. Kirk and John Kirk; and her granddaughter, Rebecca Isabel in 1990. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, February 19 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, East Glenville. Funeral services, Wednesday, February 20, 8:15 a.m. from the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, followed at 9 a.m., by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Road, East Glenville, with Father Jerome Gingras officiating. Cathe always spoke about her family with utmost love and affection - her husband was her soulmate and her children were her greatest accomplishment! You all meant the world to her. She was truly an amazing woman and will be deeply missed.
So many accomplishments…so many successes, a wealth of hopes and dreams fulfilled, days and days well-lived and now a legacy to celebrate. May sweet memories of your Mother strengthen and encourage you until you meet again in Heaven.
Although the love and support of a Mother can never be replaced, we hope you find some strength in the love of family and in the warm embrace of friends.

Kim and Colleen and your families,
I was so saddened to hear about Madame passing. I was just thinking about her and the gang from Glen Sanders. I can remember she and Ed Hogan at the Hostess Stand bantering back and forth and of course our after hours cocktails in the bar with Diana, Deb, Leesa and the gang. She will be very very missed but never ever forgotten.

Saddened by the passing of my beautiful, talented and loving sister. Many times and many years ago I would come to you for advice and consul which you gave freely and unabashed. An abyss happened in our lives for which I take my share of the blame but you had an ubiquitousness that I have carried with me and will continue to do so. I reflect upon our shared blessings, of which we have plenty, not on our past misfortunes, of which many brothers and sisters have. To my dear sister, Catherine Alice (Kaufman) Kearny there is a candle lit in my heart for my love for you that only will be extinguished by my last breath. Your loving brother, Fran
