Cindy,Boo,&Jay- My entire family send our heartfelt sympathy to you all in the loss of a very dear old friend,Ed.I last saw him at our 2000 H.S. reunion. The same old old warm feelings of friendship were there. Our families grew up together&at times I babysat Boo&Jay.We made life fun growing up even through the tough times.I rememember how Ed always watched out for his brothers- they were very special to him.Things happen & we don't stay in touch as life gets busy & then we regret it.This is such a time. Cindy, keep his memories close to you & Boo &Jay- you know how much your brother,Ed loved you-that feeling will never leave you. And Ed- up in that big heaven above-keep hiking & biking & keep the love & caring you had for everyone keep shining down.We love you&will never forget you! The Carharts

The February 26th issue of the Altamont Enterprise penned by Cindy best described my brother. Thank you Cindy.

I am at peace that Ed had a great sweet hearted wife for 30 years and that Ed found his vivid passion and tranquility in the Adirondacks, and in the many friendships he established (who could have envisioned over 300 guests to his memorial service). Thank you ADK for your displays at the memorial.

Why Ed's life was so short, no one will ever know the answers-Ed left this earth with the real answers.

I believe Cindy's partial sentence "I don't believe Ed really knew (or sincerely felt) how many people loved him" rings so true......

To Ed, I still love are my brother.

My wife Carol hopes that Matthew was there to greet you with a big smile and HI UNCLE ED! I hope that Ed was able to be a loving uncle and have fun with his nephew.

Hope springs eternal.

I'm glad me and my friend Rich Benson got to hike Mount Marshall with the legend. In one day you taught us so much. I hope you always rest in peace.

Ed was a valued employee and coworker, I do not believe he realized how much he meant to the Post Office. I did not know Ed on a personal level only professional so I was not aware of his many relationships and endeavors outside of the post office. He was a man of conviction and always tackled the toughest projects. The employees he trained were numerous and that is a testament to his patience and guidance. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, he will be missed by all of us.

I have never had the pleasure of meeting you. I am sorry in my last message here that I spoke only of my own grief.
I wish to offer you and all of Ed's family my true heartfelt sympathy in your time of sorrow. Ed will be missed by all, but I know that there is no comparison to what you all must be going through right now. Please accept my deepest sympathies

This is a tremendous loss. I can not put into words the feeling that came over me when I heard the news of Ed's passing. I have not seen Ed since the mid 1990's, but I worked side by side with Ed for a number of years in the Post Office. I dearly loved the man and learned many things from him. He was a very great friend to me. I adored his sense of humor and wit. There was not anything that you could not talk to Ed about. If he didn't have an immediate answer, he didn't just walk away and forget that you had a problem, he would remember and come back to you even if it was days later and offer a solution. He was a true one of a kind individual that I can just not say enough good about. He had a smile that could brighten even the darkest of rooms. It was a genuine smile too. I had to retire early form the Post Office, but I went back for many months afterwards in the evening hours and hung out in the maintenance break area to see Ed and talk with him. He could make me laugh hard and feel good about myself. I have learned a wealth of knowledge from Ed, not just in the mechanics of the equipment that we worked on for the Post Office, but also in bicycles. I became and avid cyclist while knowing Ed and built my own custom bike. Many a problem I came across through this project that Ed talked me through very simply. He was a very smart man, especially when it came to things like "Why?" or "How?". He either knew or figured it out and let you know later.
I came to this guest book page very early the first morning it was up and there were no entries. I very much wanted to be the first to leave my feelings. I tried real hard but could not type. I was devistated. I want to thank everyone that left such kind words about this amazing man. It is nice to know that there are so many others out there that have been touched by the kindness and friendship that Ed had to offer. This helped to bring me about and put a fraction of what I am grateful for of having the pleasure of knowing Ed Bunk into words. Ed must have really made an impact on me as when I heard of his passing, it made a tremendous hole in my life. God Bless you Ed. PLEASE rest in peace.
