Blendell, Eleanor L. DELMAR Eleanor L. (Weisel) Blendell, 94, died Sunday, February 10, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Lutheran Healthcare Center. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late William C. and Ida (Wanmer) Weisel. Mrs. Blendell was a graduate of Albany High School and attended Junior College of Albany. She was a secretary with the New York State retirement system after college. She returned to the workforce after raising a family and worked in the New York State Legislature for more than 15 years. Mrs. Blendell was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and a member and past president of the Nathaniel Blanchard American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling, camping with family and her bridge club. Wife of the late Edward F. Blendell Sr.; mother of Paul (Jacqueline) Blendell of Coeymans Hollow, William C. (Penny) Blendell of Castleton, Edward F. Blendell Jr. of Delmar and the late Lois Scholomiti; grandmother of Danielle, Veronica, Erinn, William, Michael and the late Lauren Scholomiti and Nicholas Scholomiti; great-grandmother of Tyler; sister of the late Edmund Weisel. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2013 in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
