Warren Harrison Obituary

HARRISON Warren Eugene Dusty Harrison, Jr., 67, went home to be with the Lord on April 1, 2014, lovingly surrounded by his family. He was born November 26, 1946, in Orlando, Florida, as the son of W. E. Gene and Lois Caldwell Harrison. Dusty grew up in Neptune Beach, graduating from Fletcher High School in 1964. He went on to play college football as a tight end at The Citadel in Charleston, SC. Following college, he proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corp, serving in Vietnam and Cambodia with top secret security clearance. In 1990 Dusty married Jeanine Eichholz which began a beautiful 24 year marriage, one of those rare relationships which thrived with the passing years. Multi-talented and possessing a wealth of knowledge, Dusty was successful in many occupations, among those: Assistant Golf Professional, Ormond Beach; Johnson and Johnson Sales Representative, New Jersey; Offshore Commercial Fishing Captain, Edisto Beach, SC; Construction Project Manager for Transportation and Commercial Construction Projects, Palm Coast. For the past ten years, Dusty has been an Instructor and Admissions Recruiter for the Commercial Diving Academy, Jacksonville, where he has been an inspiration, leader and mentor to hundreds of young men in the program. In addition to his loving wife, Jeanine, Dusty is survived by three daughters, Mindy Albertson and Amy Shore of Palm Coast, and Alexa Jodzio of Stuart; grandchildren, Victoria, Megan, Josh, Mackenzie, Kennedy, Billy, Miranda, Alex, Olivia and Jace; great grandchild, Sydney; sister, Phyllis Luther Wade (Lewis) of Jacksonville Beach; nieces, Tracey Luther Warren (Randy) of Neptune Beach and Frances Luther Roberts (Troy) of Scottsdale, AZ; nephew, John Adam Luther of Memphis, TN. A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held at 3:00pm, Saturday, April 12th, at Beach United Methodist Church in Jacksonville Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be directed to the American Cancer Society. He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often and loved much; Who has enjoyed the trust of pure women, the respect of intelligent men and the love of little children; Who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; Who has left the world better than he found it, whether by an improved poppy, a perfect poem, or a rescued soul; Who has never lacked appreciation of earth s beauty or failed to express it; Who has always looked for the best in others and given the best he had; Whose life was an inspiration; Whose memory a benediction. Dusty was one of a kind. We had a lot of fun in our years at DUF. Learning of his passing made me miss him the more. May the faithfully departed rest in eternal peace.

Dusty was a friend and football teammate at DU Fletcher from the class of '64. Facebook provided us an opportunity to reconnect and Dusty reached out after all those years. It is sad that he is no longer with us. On behalf of both myself and my wife, Cheryl (also a classmate) condolences to his family.

I knew Dusty at St.-Paul's-by-the-Sea since elementary school. Our moms were friends, too. When I saw his name in the address line of the email, I thought, "Great, he will be at our (50th) reunion!, When I saw that it was in reference to an obituary, I was filled with much sadness. I will always remember him as a tan, trim, athlete, with a twinkle in his eye. May God's Peace be with his family.

I knew Dusty at St. Paul's-by-the-Sea since elementary school. His mom and my mom were friends, too. He was so nice and so fun. When I saw his name in the subject line of the email, I thought, "Great. He will be at the (50th) reunion!" When I saw it was an obit I cannot describe my sadness. I will always remember him as a tanned, toned athlete, with a twinkle in his eye. All my love to his family.
