Having worked for "Mr. Carlson" for 30+ years, I probably have spent as much time with him as I did my husband...so I knew "most" of his habits(he always wanted his coffee served in a "hot" cup...so you had to run hot water over it for several minutes to make sure the cup(Pfaltzgraff, of course!) was hot. He always took his Wall Street Journal with him to the men's room...he could be easily preoccupied with college basketball...golf tournaments...he not only loved RADIO and everything about it...he also loved the Weather Channel(I think he was an amateur meteorologist)...he passed a kidney stone one day in the men's room and passed by me proudly with his "stone(s)" in his cup(I guess he took it to his doctor)...he loved celebrating his birthday more than anyone I knew and never missed a day in the office on his birthday...he dearly loved his wife Linda and his children....Kate,Bob, Terry, Jennifer and James...and I am sure he loved his grandchildren even more...he was not the same "gentle" person on the golf course as he was in the office(I am told)...he took a lot of Friday afternoons off for his "field trips"...he was a fanatic about calculating each of his station's cash flow(meaning he was a good manager of finances!)...he loved Christmas and surprising his wife/children with gifts...he took great pride in the success of Susquehanna Radio...he promoted me many times(started out as his secretary...ended up as Senior VP/Administration)and always seemed to value my opinion...Although I didn't get to see him much after he retired in 1996 and I retired in 2001...I was so saddened to hear of his passing. He will be missed! My condolences to his family! Sincerely, Sue
