I met Fr. Bowles when he was at Holy Spirit in Jacksonville. i was baptized by him at Easter in '68.we became very good friends. he had a great sense of humor as well as intellect. i was saddened to learn of his passing. i look forward to seeing him in heaven.
Rest in peace my friend.
We were one of the lucky young couples who had Fr Bowles officiate at our wedding 46 years ago. I will always remember his toast at our rehearsal dinner,"May all of your troubles be 'little ones'." I am sure he used that toast many times and others remember it, as well.

We were friends of Fr. Bowles and his family in Jacksonville before he entered the seminary. He assisted at the marriage of our son and daughter-in-law in Mobile. He will be missed. May he rest in peace. Catherine and Jim Monahan

Monsignor Bowles brought my family a lot of peace through sad times and brought a lot of joy in many good times. He was a unique individual and will be missed. May he rest in peace.
May Father Bowles Rest In Peace.
Father Bowles was a special priest for the Leary family. I'll never forget how he cared for my mother and visited her when she was ill. My prayers are with him and his family.
I remember Fr. Bowles and his dad, Leo Bowles. Both were dedicated to the Church and made significant differences in many parishnor's lives. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and may the perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen.

I was a student at Bishop Kenny when he taught there. We would always greet each other in the hallways with "Howdy Cuz!". He could not help but stand out as one of the only domestically born priests on the faculty. He was a frequent visitor during my incarceration at St. Vincent's following a traffic accident, as was his mom, Mary.
I will miss him.

Father Bowles was there on our very special day to marry us. We now pray that he is smiling and enjoying his special day in Heaven. Many thanks to all that helped take care of Father Bowles and comforted him. He will be missed, but he will be cherished always.
Father Bowles was a part of our family by the fact that he was there in our midst for so many of life's special moments. He married my sister and her husband. He married Scott and I. He baptized both my children. He was there with us at the hospital as my father was dying of cancer. And he officiated over my father's funeral. At my son's baptism I presented Father Bowles with a tankard made of Waterford crystal engraved with the letters VF (a reference to a joke inspired by Fr Bowles during my wedding week). He brought that tankard over to our home to raise a glass to my mom a few months before she died. I will think of him at any of life's special moments yet to come and I will miss him!!!
I considered Father Bowles to be one of my dearest friends. It was an honor to serve as his deacon for many years at St. Michael Parish. Although parted by distance for the past 23 years, we were close allies throughout difficult times. He touched the lives of many over his long years of service to the Church, and so I am confident that I am not alone in my grief. I shall miss him greatly!
I was so sorry to hear about Father Bowles passing away. He will certainly be missed, but we will remember the fun times...when he married Chip and I, when he joined the EOHS with mom and dad....but especially when my flight was delayed for my dad's funeral and I had hoped to slip down the side aisle and into the family pew, when Father Bowles calmly announced for me to "come on down, of course we are on Scotto time!" Yes, he will certainly be missed but I am sure he is in a much better place. Rest in Peace Father Bowles! Lucia
