Hi Ann. It's been a long time , but I wanted to tell you how sorry I am for your loss. This has to be a really tough one to deal with. What a great guy he was. Perfect for you----49 years. Wow.
Well, God obviously has some surprise new plans for you and your one and only life. It won't be easy, but I'm confident, with God's help, you'll make it through, to the next God-ordained portion of your life.
Roger of course is in Heaven with Jesus and will be forever. And one day you'll join him, also forever.
I too am a believer, a Christ-follower for 29 years.
I haven't seen you for many years, but as a fellow "Fairfielder" I somehow felt an attachment to you in spite of the long absence. I know how difficult it would be for me if I were to lose my wife.
God bless you Ann, and I will definitely be praying for you.
Ann, I apologize for overlooking your original message. The subject line did not seem to describe the message.
I want to share words said at my father's memorial because they ring true for Roger.
"Blessed is the man to whom his work is a pleasure, by whom his friends are encouraged and through whom his children see God."
I was so sorry to hear this news of Roger. I just found out on Jan 22. I will remember Roger fondly for his friendship for over 20 years while I worked for Yellow Freight. He was certainly one of a kind. God Bless.
I served with Roger and his A-6A squadron aboard the USS Kitty Hawk in 1966/67. He was a colorful Naval aviator. We will always remember him using "Leprechaun 1" as a call sign while coming in for his final mission landing aboard Kitty Hawk and seeing him wearing a long Kelley green scarf around his neck and a big cigar in his mouth as he got out of his aircraft.
I was a Delta Chi with Roger at Illinois, in the class of 1962. Neil Robertson passed along the sad news to me about Roger. My thoughts are with you and your family.
While I never met Roger, I am still very sorry to hear of his passing, mainly because I know that you will be dealing with sadness for some time to come. I do know, however, that your faith is strong, and that you have the support you need to carry you through the days ahead. Your Theta friends mourn with you and wish you peace. God bless you and your family through the days ahead.
Oh Ann, how we will all miss that (tall) giant of a man in warmth and humor.
You have been richly blessed through your long and loving marriage.
May you find strength and comfort in the arms of the One who lent him to you all of these years. Regina McCary
I am so sorry that this darkness has entered the season of light. Your faith will lift you up and see you through.
It always amazes me when we “intend” to do something and never seem to get around to doing it. That was our experience with Roger and you, Ann. We've been neighbors “intending” to get to know you better for nearly 10 years; and now we have lost our opportunity of “intending” to get to know Roger; at least until we meet him again. Roger's passing teaches us to throw away the “intending” part, to grasp the “do it” part, and to stop wasting the opportunities we have while the gift of them exists. We are choosing to be happy for Roger that he is still alive with God and will remain alive in our hearts. Ann and family, “May the Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face to shine on you, and be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you (His) peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26, RSV). Love, The Temples
Ann, We are so sorry for your loss. Roger was a fine man. We have wonderful memories of our times together. God bless you and your family.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
As a fellow alumnus of Central Mich. Univ., I thank you for sharing Roger with us as both a naval aviator and a defender of our Country, also. Look to the Lord for comfort in these hours of grief. God Bless.
