During the Lloyd Thomas's Vietnam deployment, I assisted Capt. Jardine prepare his personal monthly Familygram to all the L/T family members back home. Capt. Jardine always concerned himself for his crew and for their families. Truly the finest Captain and individual to serve under.

I was Captain Jardine's phone talker on the USS Lloyd Thomas during combat operations in Vietnam. He was the best Captain I ever served under. My life was truly enriched by knowing Captain Jardine. I am very sorry for your lose. Robert T. Moran, YNC, USN, RET.

When I think of that time on board the Lloyd Thomas in 1972 and how cool Capt. Jardine was under fire, it's hard not to picture him almost saying " Damn the torpedoes full speed ahead". He was a leader, I will never forget.
