Tena Brown Davis was born February 28, 1908, in Leland, NC, daughter of the late John & Lucy Brown. In 1928, she married Joseph J. Davis who preceded her in death. To this union, eight children were born. Tena and Joseph were members of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Wilmington, NC, and subsequently St. Pius V Catholic Church in Jacksonville. Survivors include four daughters, Lydia Braye (James), Wilmington, NC, Mary Alice Chambers, St. Louis, MO, Helen Pennington (Malcolm), Wilmington, NC, and Iva Boslough, Hudson, FL; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn her passing are 2 daughters-in- law, Vernestine Davis, Washington, DC, and Melba Davis, Virginia Beach, VA; special friends, James Bradley, Jonquil Wanton and Larry White, and faithful church friends. We will all miss her warmth, humor, wisdom and caring nature. A Mass of the Resurrection Service for Mrs. Davis will be solemnized on Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at 10:00 AM, at her church, with Rev. Father James R. Boddie, Jr., Pastor, officiating. Family visitation and the Rosary will be held Monday, at 7:00 PM in the mortuary chapel. Mrs. Davis will also rest at the church for visitation of friends from 9 AM until the hour of services Tuesday. The cortege will assemble at the church at 9:30AM.
