Sue and Joe, Please accept my heartfelt sympathy with the passing of Chase. I always had the most respect for him and he is one of the greats in Northwest Ohio journalism. I have to work all day on Saturday so I am not sure I will get by to pay my respects. Again, please accept my condolences and may God soothe your hearts.

Chase and I grew up together, we played in the vacant lot across the street from his house. Many great times.

I was former broadcast news person. I ran for city council in 1991 and 2001. Chase treated me fairly, even though I had worked with some of his former co-workers in radio. The most amusing story I have came on the day of Chase's passing. I mentioned to mayor-elect D. Michael Collins that chase had passed. Mr. Collins told me \this story. As a student, he had Chase as a teacher. Chase, knowing Mr. Collins history with horses, would call Mr. Collins to the front of the classroom and hand him a racing program and say, "here kid, handicap these races for me." What a funny story. Of course, Chase would pick the day where pick one of the most important and historical races was held in Toledo to pass. Chase you are a class act.
