Chase was a great reporter and a great writer, and it's rare to find both skills in a newsman. He had sources upon sources and knew everything going on in this area. I learned a lot from Chase and am grateful I had an opportunity to get to know him as a colleague and a friend.

I remember how thrilled we all were when he moved over from TV to The Blade. No one better informed, no one funnier. He helped create a newsroom atmosphere that so many of us will never forget. Thinking of you Sue, Pat and Tim Green

Chase and I were raised a block from each other and yetb we went to diffderent schools. i admired his quick intellect and his friendly smile. He loved to tease (I am 3 years younger) and he had class. I am pleased he is a part of my memory.

It was an honor and a privilege to have known Chase. His keen observations, astute reporting, and political musings were always informational, educational, entertaining, and an inspiration. My deepest condolences to Sue and the entire family.

I remember Chase from my high school years when I delivered The Toledo Times to him every morning at 6:00 AM every morning at WTOD. Then I'd hang around and watch him and Bob do what they did best. I remember he had allergy issues and they would do a bit where he'd "go" out in the bean field surrounding the station and do a pollen count. Have wondered in recent years what happened to him. Good to know he had a long and wonderful life. Sympathies to Chase's family. Bill Gors

Chase and I were at DHS the same time. I remember his pegged pants and white buck shoes, later got to know him when we both were returned army veterans and taking classes at UT in l958. Chase lived on Bancroft Street and I lived on Paisley Road, both in the Reynolds Corners area. I recall that Chase attended Glann elementary school on Reynolds Road. One of Chase's first jobs was teaching school at Mount Vernon School on Byrne Road. Later Chase taught at Libbey High School before entering the media. It seems our paths kept crossing through the years. A scholarly fellow, extremely well read, it is ironic the last time I saw Chase he was browsing through a Monroe Street bookstore. Our condolences to the Clements family.

Chase taught me more about local television journalism in one week than I learned in college in four years. Nicknamed "Bear" in the WSPD-TV newsroom no one was better on the beat than Chase. Politics was his passion but the story was the story and he knew how to communicate it best. Just a great talent who opened the door for me and others in broadcasting. His great attribute was teaching others and he did it so very well.
