I was so sorry to hear about Chase. I have so many fun memories from Kelseys. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Sue,

I was so sorry to hear of Chase's passing. I was out of town this weekend so could not attend the memorial, but I will always remember him as being one of the true wits of this city.

Growing up across the street from your family in the 60s & 70s, I'm expressing my deepest sympathies to you, Neal and Chase, (and Jane), who treated me like family whenever I came over - which was often. My dad just passed away 4 months ago; perhaps they're neighbors again. Take care

I didn't know his whole history until I saw his obituary. Chase certainly qualified as a journalistic icon...with a storied career. It's a cliche...but it is true, they don't make them like Chase anymore. Sue, I am so sorry for your loss...but Chase sure did leave a tremendous legacy.

Sue and Joe, Please accept my heartfelt sympathy with the passing of Chase. I always had the most respect for him and he is one of the greats in Northwest Ohio journalism. I have to work all day on Saturday so I am not sure I will get by to pay my respects. Again, please accept my condolences and may God soothe your hearts.

Chase and I grew up together, we played in the vacant lot across the street from his house. Many great times.

I was former broadcast news person. I ran for city council in 1991 and 2001. Chase treated me fairly, even though I had worked with some of his former co-workers in radio. The most amusing story I have came on the day of Chase's passing. I mentioned to mayor-elect D. Michael Collins that chase had passed. Mr. Collins told me \this story. As a student, he had Chase as a teacher. Chase, knowing Mr. Collins history with horses, would call Mr. Collins to the front of the classroom and hand him a racing program and say, "here kid, handicap these races for me." What a funny story. Of course, Chase would pick the day where pick one of the most important and historical races was held in Toledo to pass. Chase you are a class act.

Chase, rest in peace our honorary steam captain - you will be missed but you will not be forgotten. Sue, our deepest condolences, Hope and Randy Samborn

Chase, you were a gentleman and a scholar. Thank you for the invaluable tutelage. No one in that newsroom was ever more generous with such deep knowledge of this city. The best of colleagues...
