I have many fond memories of Mr. Turner. He was good friends with my uncle when I was a youth growning up in Toledo. I am so sorry to learn of his passing. He was one class act.

While finishing my undergraduate studies at the University of Toledo, I worked with Mr. Turner in the Toledo Police Community Relations Department under Deputy Police Chief Erwin P. Oehlers. This department operated more like an intelligence unit and Sgt. Turner took me under his wing. He took me everywhere with him. He was nothing but class and I never seen him angry. He always had a calmness about him, coupled with jovial moments, as well.

I never could figure out how we gravitated to each other. Now I know, he was also a Waite Indian and 'stand-out' athlete just like me, just a different sport.

He taught me responsibility, accountability, and that hard work pays off. I'll never forget when he took me with him to his new home he had just purchased. His focus was never about him, he just wanted his wife to be happy, that's all that mattered to him. He also wanted me to see the fruits of his labor and I learned from his examples, believe me.

Mr. Turner, 'Eddie' he demanded I call him, you left an indelible mark on my life. I have passed your values on to my two children and they exhibit those values today.

Words cannot express my gratitude. God will reward you in the Kingdom.

My mentor and Friend, I will see you on the other side.

Dear Turner Family,

The Perrys have heavy hearts as we learn of Mr. Eddie Turner's passing. Having been a constant fixture across the street and having shared many fond memories of enjoyment between the children and each other, we are truly heart-broken. Yet, we rejoice knowing that Eddie Turner is now singing the songs of Zion. A truly remarkable human being. Blessings to one and All!

My best to Eddie's family. He worked on the police department with my dad, Dick Smythe. They were friends, especially after I became an athlete at Findlay College. I remember Eddie as always smiling and a true gentleman. My dad said he was an outstanding officer for TPD. My dad passed in 1975 while still on the department.

Jackie and Family, I don't think I need to tell you how much Eddie meant to me, you already know. When I met Eddie 24 years ago, I had no idea what an influence he (and his family) would become in my life. I can't begin to tell you how much I learned from him. Most of which, simply by watching the way he interacted with people and the way he lived his life. The love and respect I have for him is unmatched. Eddie was so many peoples "Rock," including my own. There is a huge ache in my heart but, I know that he is "humming" with the angels and still has a watchful eye on all of us. God Bless the Turner family.
